Irene “Tah” Jans of Calgary, beloved wife of the late Alfred Jans, passed away on Thursday, October 20th, 2016 at the age of 90 years. Irene leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ed (Barbara) Jans and Bonnie Jans; two grandchildren, Darcy Jans and Chet (Jamie) Jans and their children Taos and Rhett; two sisters, her twin Lydia Pahl and younger sister Edna Redelback; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Alfred; her parents, Mathias and Emma Knoblick; her great grandson, Tanner; as well as numerous sisters and brothers-in-law. Irene loved gardening. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. The Graveside Service will be held at HILLSIDE CEMETERY, Gershaw Drive and 10th Avenue SW, on Tuesday, October 25th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery gates 15 minutes prior to the service. James Mann of Medicine Hat, beloved family member and friend of all those who knew him, passed away on Friday, September 30th, 2016 at the age of 69 years, after battling cancer. James was known to family and friends to have an unusual and unique sense of humor that always put smiles on all people's faces. He was talented and passionate with painting, playing the guitar and singing. He was successful at doing upholstery work, had a keen eye for his work and was talented at doing this trade for 39 years. Martha Ida Hippe of Medicine Hat, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at the age of 100 years, beloved wife of the late Berthold Hippe. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Thelma Matheson, Arthur Hippe and Arnetta Leach; four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was also predeceased by her parents, Ernstina and Edward Wutke and one son Clifford; three brothers and one sister. Her family would like to thank the staff at the Good Samaritan’s for the good care she received. The funeral service will be held in St. Paul Lutheran Church (515 Sprague Way SE) on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ken Edel officiating. It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Mr. L.A. (Verne) Schneider, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, at the age of 66 years old. Verne leaves to cherish his memory and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Brenda of 46 years, daughter Spring Ellen (Clint), son Wade (Aska), four beautiful grandchildren Brooklyn, Madison, Lucian and Ella, mother Gladys, sisters Marlene (Bryan) and Peggy (Rick); and numerous relatives and friends. Verne was predeceased by his father Archie and sister Pamela.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28 at Parkland Funeral Chapel, 3502 – 44 Avenue Stony Plain.
