1941 ~ JANZEN ~ 2016

Evelyn Janzen (nee Paproski) of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Norman Janzen, passed away Sunday, June 26th, 2016.
Evelyn was born in Sinnett, SK to Charlie and Eileen Paproski and grew up on the family farm with her five sisters and two brothers. Evelyn was teaching in Estevan when she met Norman Janzen and together they raised four children and moved to many places over the years in both Alberta and British Columbia, making many special friends along the way.
Mom always took great pride in the excellent care she took of her family. We always knew our Mom loved us dearly and she was never happier than when she was able to cuddle and spoil her seven grandchildren.
The last few years were difficult for everyone but we were still able to make memories while spending time with our Mom. When the great-grandchildren came along, her love of babies always brought a big smile to her face and a twinkle in her eye.
We will miss our Mom with all our hearts but we know that she is happy in Dad’s arms and they are watching over us together.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Laurinda (Wayne) Resch, Darin (MaryAnn) Janzen, and Karla (Cory) Oliphant all of Medicine Hat, and Jodi (Jim) Charley of Okanagan Falls, BC; her grandchildren: Ryan (Mellissa) Resch with Carson and Corbin of Blackfalds, AB; Kirsten (David) Green with Evan and Kade; Courtney (Jared) Heilman and Harper; Stephanie (Travis) Greenwald and Miles, all of Medicine Hat; Taylor Charley (Ryan) of Penticton, BC; and Payton Charley (Nick) of Kelowna, BC.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Norman; parents, Charlie and Eileen; and her beautiful grandson, Kyle Janzen.
The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Sunday, July 3rd, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. Interment will follow at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery for both Evelyn and Norman.

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marty Hofer at the age of 60 years, loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend. Marty was born in 1956 at the Lakeside Colony at Cranford, AB., and moved that same year to the Spring Creek Colony at Walsh, AB. In 1979, he moved to the Elkwater Colony where he resided until his passing. Marty is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ruth Hofer; son, Randy (Rachel Ann) of Elkwater as well as a daughter, Wanda (Michael) of Mixburn. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren who meant the world to him, Abraham, Boaz, Javan, Alexander, Paula, Mylan, Tamar and Noella. He is also survived by his sister, Susanna (Fred) of Gildford, MT; brothers, Paul (Susanna), Ben (Annie), John (Rebecca), Willy (Mary) and Joe, all of Elkwater. Marty was predeceased by his father, Paul and mother, Susanna as well as one sister, Maria. After being the plumber and welder for 15 years, Marty became the farm welder full time and enjoyed his welding trade for many years. Marty’s family, the Elkwater Colony and all who knew him will so dearly miss this loving man. With his humble heart of gold he always had something encouraging and positive to say to whoever he met, always giving and not expecting anything in return. After numerous painful back surgeries, it was still so hard for him to slow down. Even when he was the one hurting, he loved making people laugh. But the Lord wanted him now, and we will find comfort in Jesus. We are reminded in Isaiah 55:9, For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. The Funeral for Marty will be held at the Elkwater Colony on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. with lunch to follow.
