1923 ~ HOHENACKER ~ 2016
Anna Marie Hohenacker (nee Langer) of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Henry Hohenacker, passed away on Sunday, June 26th, 2016 at the age of 92 years. Anna leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Reinhold Hohenacker of Calgary and Tony (Sherry) Hohenacker of Medicine Hat; one daughter, Giesela Sehn of Medicine Hat; four grandchildren, Genny (Jonas) Arrenegado, Amanda (James) McGregor, Matthew Hohenacker, Melissa Hohenacker; two great grandchildren, Keira and Kylie McGregor; as well as numerous nieces and nephews from Germany. Anna was predeceased by her husband, Henry Hohenacker; her parents, Paul and Anna Langer; two brothers, Paul Langer and Heinz Langer; and two sisters, Liese Lotle and Gertrude Langer. Anna was born on December 24th, 1923 in Germany. She married Henry on October 15th, 1948 at Rohrdorf, Germany. In 1957, she immigrated to Burstall, Saskatchewan and in 1984 retired to Medicine Hat. Anna enjoyed gardening, crocheting and was a great cook and baker. She was well known for her German dishes including kuchen. Anna loved spending time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed her great grandchildren. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of a much loved husband, father and grandfather, after a long life, well lived. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Mona; children, Marie (Randy), Theresa, Anthony (Melanie), Michelle (Brent); special family member, Raeann and his adored grandchildren, great-grandchildren and 4 legged friend, Kasey. He was heartbroken by the sudden loss of his son Murray in 2012 and looked forward to being re-united with him again. Everyone who met him loved him, young and old alike. MENDRYK
Bohdan “Bo” William Mendryk passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the age of 79 years, beloved husband of Gloria Mendryk of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Dale (Kim), Darcy (Judi) and Cam (Kerri); ten grandchildren, Jewelz and Cole (their daughter Alayah); Danette and Mike; Alyx (his daughter Ariella), Courtney, Shae-Lynn, Layne, Casey, Kyleigh (her son Bentley), Brooke, and Brandon; his sisters-in-law Diane (Ken) Rachuk and Irene Mendryk as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Anne and John Mendryk; one son Darrell in 2007 and five brothers and sisters.
Bo was born on July 18, 1936 in Flat Bush, Alberta. He was a member of the Canadian Army as a Peace Keeper from 1955-57, in Europe. He married Gloria on July 9, 1960, and went on to raise four boys who gave them ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He spent his entire career in the oil and gas industry working for Dresser Industries for 23+ years before starting his own business, Hat Tank Rentals which prospered for 10+ years. Bo enjoyed early retirement at age 55, which included spending winters in Phoenix, Arizona and summers either in Medicine Hat or out fishing on Quadra Island. He was an avid golfer being a member of the MHG&CC since the early 70's. Through his work, golf, fishing and travels he forged many close friendships across Canada and the U.S. Many will remember him for his boisterous personality, but the close ones will remember him for his big heart.
A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery on Thursday June 30, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. A celebration of Bo’s life will follow at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club at 3:30 p.m. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet inside the main gate to Hillside Cemetery by 2:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Joyce Magdelene Weiss of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the age of 67 years, beloved mother of Kevin (Margareta) Jesse of Edmonton and Lori (Tom Ruddy) Jesse of Portland, Oregon and their father, Wayne Jesse. She also leaves to cherish her memory, her grandchildren, Mathew Jesse and Kaitlyn Jesse. She was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Violet Weiss and her brother, Victor Weiss. Joyce was born in Medicine Hat and raised in Hilda. As a young woman, she moved to Medicine Hat where she was married and started her family. Soon after, the family moved to Whitecourt where they lived for many years. Later in life she returned to her family and friends in Medicine Hat where she eventually retired. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in St. Peter Lutheran Church (758 8th Street SE) on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Shane Hein officiating.
