1927 ~ BULL ~ 2016

Jean Eleanor Bull of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Robert "Bob" Bull, passed away on Wednesday, May 25th, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Jean leaves to cherish her memory her daughter-in-law, Mavis Bull; her grandson, Ken Bull (Jamie) and his son, Jack; a step great-granddaughter, Ayla Wade; as well as four nieces. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Bob; her parents, Olaf and Sina Wenner; her son, Doug; one brother; and three sisters. Jean was born on December 9th, 1927 in Medicine Hat. She married Bob on February 27th, 1948 in Medicine Hat which became their lifelong home. Jean devoted herself to serving others and waitressed in various restaurants throughout the city for 45 years. She will be remembered for her kindness and devotion to family and friends. The Graveside Service will be held at HILLSIDE CEMETERY, 10th Avenue and Gershaw Drive SW, on Monday, May 30th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. Cecile Lucie Hassett (nee Kolly) of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, May 23rd, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Cecile leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Percella Aguilar of St. Albert; three grandsons, Scott Carmody, Liam Carmody and Joshua Aguilar; two sisters, Laura Odenbach and Marie (Ben) Paul, both of Medicine Hat; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cecile was predeceased by her parents, Gustave and Sidonie Kolly; one son, Gayle Hassett; one brother, Robert Kolly; and one sister, Rita Arndt. Cecile was born in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba on August 13th, 1927. She worked at the Crescent Heights Safeway for over 30 years. Cecile loved gardening and always had a beautiful backyard. She had a dry sense of humour and was very funny. Cecile will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. A Private Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 4th, 2016. 1928 ~ RADKE ~ 2016

Emma Radke, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, May 24 at the age of 87 years. Left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Glenda (Gary) Bailey; one son, Dennis (Marion) Radke; two grandchildren, Regan Hoko and children Sydney and Emery, and Rob (Maria) Radke and children Mathias, Sophia and Gabrielle. Emma was predeceased by her parents, Emma and David Fischer and her brother Ewald Fischer. Emma was born on August 31, 1928 in Medicine Hat and grew up in the Longfellow area southeast of Medicine Hat. Emma married Ewald Radke in 1948 and lived her life looking after the upbringing of her children and supporting her husband who raised purebred Hereford cattle. In 1981 Emma stayed on at Em’s Shady Lane farm on the Holsom Road hosting parties at the Kowplex quonset, looking after a big yard and spending weekends in her trailer at Rattlesnake Park. Emma was a Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Royal Purple and also a member of the Daughters of the Nile. She loved travelling out of town to meetings and conventions with Glenda which always produced a lot of laughs and fun times. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and dancing. Emma was always dressed smartly and possessed a vast array of shoes and jewelry to compliment her wardrobe. In 2006 Emma moved to Park Meadows Estates where she spent her time entertaining guests. Due to failing health Emma relocated to the Meadowlands Retirement Complex in 2012 and in September of 2014 journeyed to the Good Samaritan Continuous Care facility where she resided until her passing. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the SAAMIS CREEKSIDE CENTRE, 11 Dunmore Road SE, on Saturday, May 28th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Gary W. Goran officiating. BERNICE GYORKOS (nee PYTLARZ)

May 17, 1931 ~ May 24, 2016

Bernice Mary Gyorkos of Medicine Hat, formerly of Lethbridge, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the age of 85 years. Besides her loving husband, Stephen Aloysius, Bernice is survived by her daughter, Janice (John) Laing of Medicine Hat and her twin granddaughters, Stephanie and Jillian Laing. She will also be deeply missed by her sister, Adele Pogue (David) of Calgary and her sister-in-law, Glenda Pytlarz of Lethbridge as well as her nieces, Jane, Ruth, Luann and Marie and nephews, Bob and Tom, who were all very dear to her. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Joanna Pytlarz and brother, Joseph Pytlarz Jr. Bernice was born in Travers, Alberta on May 17, 1931. When she was a child the family moved to Lethbridge where she continued to reside until moving to Medicine Hat in 2010. Bernice married Steve in Lethbridge on August 26, 1971 and their marriage was blessed with the birth of their daughter, Janice. During the years she lived in Lethbridge, she worked as a secretary at the Lethbridge Separate School Board and the University of Lethbridge. Bernice had many interests throughout her life some of which included sewing and cooking. She was an avid seamstress, crafter, and knitter and had an excellent style and taste. Bernice was an amazing cook and enjoyed hosting many family holidays and gatherings over the years. She will be remembered for her warm heart and loving, gentle personality and had a special relationship with her granddaughters who she loved dearly and her spirit will live on through them. Our family would like to thank the nurses and aides from Homecare that helped care for Bernice over the last two years. We are also grateful for the care she received at Riverview Care Center over the past six months. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Bernice’s life will take place in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge at a later date. JUDY TANNER

December 25, 1924 ~ May 25, 2016

Judy Tanner, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan South Ridge Village, Medicine Hat, on Tuesday, May 25, 2016, with family by her side. Judy was born on December 25, 1924, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the fifth eldest of fifteen children. She married Herbert Roller on February 21, 1947 and had three children. After their separation and divorce in the early 1960’s, Judy moved from Kenora, ON., to Medicine Hat, AB. A year later she was joined by her three children, whom she cared and provided for over the next several years. In 1969 Judy married Hugh Tanner. Judy and Hugh lived in a number of Alberta towns and cities over the next 30 years, owning and managing hotels and motels, until Hugh’s passing in 1997. Judy remained in Calgary until 2005, at which time she moved back to Medicine Hat, where she spent her remaining years. Judy is survived by her daughter, Naida Roller; son, Bryan (Colleen) Roller; and daughter, Patricia Roller; grandchildren, Karen Roller, Elise Roller, Keith Roller and great-grandson, Finlay Bennett as well as eight siblings, Dorothy Clark, John Crouch, Larry Crouch, Mina Blackall, Jim Crouch, Diane Tessaro, Lenore Parr, and Linda Parr. Judy was predeceased by her father, Charles Henry Crouch; mother, Lizzie Laurence Crouch; first husband, Herb Roller; her second husband, Hugh Tanner; siblings Ron Crouch, Margaret Witala, Grace Bailey, May Dewar, David Crouch, Robert Crouch; and grandson, Christopher. In her later years Judy struggled with dementia and failing health, but was comforted by her strong faith in Jesus. She will be fondly remembered for her infectious laughter and held in honour by her family for the many sacrifices she made raising three children as a single mother. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Good Samaritan’s South Ridge Village for the loving attention and assistance that mom received while in their care. A private family service will be held at a later date.
