McDOWELL

It is with hearts full of sadness the family of Anne McDowell, beloved wife of the late Garth McDowell, announce her passing after a year long struggle with numerous health issues. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Barb Becker and Jackie Jassman of Burstall, Jim (Brenda) McDowell of Medicine Hat, Lou (Brad) Stuebing of Burstall and Kim (Marcel) Wingenbach of Medicine Hat; thirteen grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren, one brother Tony Dirk of Medicine Hat, one sister, Marilyn Tchida of Brooks, a brother-in-law Jim McDowell of Burstall and sister-in-law Jean Dirk of Medicine Hat; her long time friend Sara Elsasser of Medicine Hat and extended family member Terry (Margie) Volk of Burstall and their family as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph “Joe” and Otilia Dirk; her husband Garth on July 22, 2005, one son Wayne on December 15, 1998; two sons-in-law Danny Becker and Alex Jassman and a great grandson Lane.

An avid sewer, Anne loved sewing for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, from First Holy Communion to skating dresses, grad dresses, and not to the mention the many mending jobs, everyone knew she would and could do it all.

Mom loved and looked forward to all the summers spent camping and fishing with many family and friends, with her campsite always being the hub of activity. Some of the fondest memories of the family are those spent around the campfire. She passed that love of fishing and camping on to many of her grandchildren.

Every spring she would start filling her green house with what would be the promise of flowers and vegetables for her garden. The fruits of her labor of love would supply the family with fresh and canned vegetables for the entire year. Her yard would be filled with flowers which she loved, in later years when she no longer had a yard, her apartment was always filled with fresh flowers.

Mom ran the arena concession in Burstall for a number of years where her hamburgers with homemade buns became an area favorite. People would go to the arena for a burger and piece of pie for supper, whether they had a sporting event or not.

Attending as many Baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations, as well as school, sporting, and dance events was important to her as long as she was able. She loved and looked forward to the family gatherings, which in later years included graduations and weddings, welcoming in new family members with open arms. As the great grandchildren began to arrive she would proudly boast of her ever growing family. Christmas was extra special for her, where she would sit and watch each of the great grandchildren open up their pajamas made with love by great grandma.

During the past 10 years, she looked forward and participated in many casino bus trips with her friends and brother Tony. She and Sara always had stories to tell of these excursions, bringing smiles to all of us.

As a family we are so truly grateful for the love and support she received from the Cypress view Foundation staff and residents. She loved the card games, music, and visits over coffee, simply she loved you all.

The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Shane P. Andrus officiating. A private interment will take place in the Burstall Cemetery at a later date. CLUGSTON

The bar has been set…

It was just over one week ago that family and friends of Dr. Tim Clugston joined together at the Esplanade to celebrate his memory… Family ensured that the celebration was exactly what Tim would have wanted… Ted led all those who attended through a personalized program that included many wonderful tributes as well as a number of video recorded tributes throughout. In a very special tribute to Tim, Ted read him one final poem before inviting everyone to stay for the food, fellowship and entertainment that continued on late into the evening…

He lived his life,

Without regret,

Achieving new standards,

The bar has been set.

His Life Lived…

His Life Cherished…

His Life Honoured.

PETERSON

“Until we meet again”

It was one week this past Saturday that family were joined by friends at Cook’s Chapel in Celebration and remembrance of the vibrant life of Joan Peterson. Many of Len and Joan’s friends from the golf course came out in support of this much loved woman! The music selected by the family coincided with the message from Life Celebrant Getz ~ Hope for eternal life and the coming of that day when we will meet again. Stories of times both on and off the course continued on late into the afternoon during the fellowship that followed.

Hold on to the memories,

Of the times you shared,

And in your heart,

She’ll always be there.

Her Life Lived…

Her Life Cherished…

Her Life Honoured.
