Edwin Jesske of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Ruth Jesske, passed away on Friday, February 26th, 2016 at the age of 92 years. 1936 ~ KEN VAN WERT ~ 2016

Ken Van Wert, beloved husband of Jean Van Wert of Medicine Hat, passed away early Thursday morning, February 25th, 2016, at the age of 79 years. Ken also leaves to cherish his memory his nephew, Richard Van Wert (Joanne) and his children, Landon, Dallon and Jazmon, and Joanne's son, Brett. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Yortha Van Wert; and one brother, Edward Van Wert. Ken operated Redcliff Bus Lines for many years and then formed Tot-em Transportation which he owned and operated until his retirement. He was a graduate of UBC and USC in economics and psychology. Ken was a Charter Member of the Redcliff Lions Club and a lifelong ardent fan of jazz playing his trumpet in several small groups he formed locally and in Vancouver. Ken enjoyed jazz music and good trumpet players. For 34 years, he walked the trails near his cabin on Ashley Lake with dogs Bussie, Totem and Dancer, and fished for trout, silver salmon and perch. He loved sharing Moose's Pizza and good wine at the cabin with the many guests who stayed with them. Ken and Jean also enjoyed their home in Scottsdale where Ken would watch The Open with friends down the street while having terrific margaritas and Mexican food at Ajo Al's. He visited many jazz venues with the swinging sounds of Danny Long, Delphine Cortez, Tim Robbins and The Divas to name only a few. Ken was a trusting friend, caring boss, a kind and truly good man. He will be missed by his many friends and family, especially by Jean. Now he can 'discuss' with those in the universe. Ken, we will miss your mind and wit and smile. Mary Jo "Jennifer" Corneau, beloved wife of Timothy "Tim" Fauser of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, February 29th, 2016 at the age of 41 years. Jennifer also leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Daryian and Sophie; one son, Chayce Krauss; her mother, Paulette (Doug) Shields; her father, John (Louise) Lawsburg; two brothers, Kevin (Shelly) Lawsburg and Shawn (Chantel) Lawsburg; and her grandma, Omma. Jennifer was born on January 10th, 1975 in Calgary, Alberta where she was raised and educated. She relocated to Medicine Hat and furthered her education in Social Work. Jennifer worked with those with special needs at Redi Enterprises. She loved her children and animals, especially her dog, Maggie. Jennifer also enjoyed dancing. Passed peacefully at Fairview Manor, Almonte, Ontario, on the 24th day of February, 2016, in her 89th year. Thérèse was sadly predeceased by her son John David in 1965 and is survived by her loving children Edmond (Vera) of Clayton, Ontario; Mark of Edmonton, Alberta; Paul of Calgary, Alberta; Mary Lucy (Kenneth) of Calgary, Alberta; Denis (Johanna) of Manama, Bahrain; Ruth of Edmonton, Alberta; David of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Matthew (Angela) of Okotoks, Alberta; Michael (Lucy) of Palm Desert, California; twenty-two grandchildren; and, five great-grandchildren. Thérèse is also survived by her dear sister Margaret Dwyer of Tralee, Ireland and her two sons Ryle, also of Tralee, and Sean (Geraldine) of Racine, Wisconsin. Thérèse was born and raised in New York, New York, and was a proud New Yorker all her life, beloved daughter of Mary Ryle and Joseph Harrigan. Thérèse moved back to the family ancestral home in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland in her early twenties along with her dear sister Margaret, where she met and married Noel Hassett. A funeral service has taken place in Almonte, Ontario on the 29th of February, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at C.R. June Ann Hattum (Nee: Kinnee) age 68 of Medicine Hat, Ab. passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Medicine Hat Hospital. The Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2016 from Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Swift Current, Sk. with Pastor Brad Julien officiating. The organist was Arlie Neufeld. The eulogy was presented by Betty Satter and special family memories were shared by her children, Jamie Hattum and Lorna Snider. The pallbearers were Stephen Snider, Shawn Folk, Darren Henderson, Garett Kinnee, Albert Hendous and Shane Rognstad. The honorary pallbearers were June's grandchildren; Deklin Snider, Clark Hattum, Ella Hattum and Khloe Snider. June is survived by her mother Salome Zaremba; husband Jack Hattum; daughter Lorna (Stephen) Snider; son Jamie (Amy Corbett) Hattum; grandchildren Deklin and Khloe Snider, Clark and Ella Hattum; twin sister Betty (Hal) Satter; sister Judy (Marcel) Folk; brother Wesley (Debbie) Kinnee; sister Marilyn (Clem) Therrien; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law including Lily Rognstad, Abe Hattum, Alec and Joyce Hattum, Bertha and Moe Hendous and Em and Judy Hattum and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father James Kennee; brother Barry Kinnee; step father Alf Zaremba; brothers-in-law Edward Hattum, Bud Hattum and Issac Hattum; sisters-in-law Kate (Hattum) McKinnon, Mickey Hattum and Josephine Williamson; special nephews Mark Hattum. June was born on June 16, 1947 in Ponteix Sk. She attended school in Cadillac. June worked for Sasktel as a switchboard operator and also at the Ponteix Hospital before she married Jack Hattum on December 15, 1972. After their marriage they worked side by side on the farm for many years raising their family. June loved sport especially curling and was a very good curler herself in Cadillac. She enjoyed watch curling on T.V. with her husband Jack. She also loved to take her children to Judo Tournaments and watching them participate. June loved to talk to people, especially on the phone. They didn't gossip just talked. She was a kind caring and loving soul, who loved people and animals and never said a bad work about others. She also loved gadgets and giving neat gadgets to her friends. June will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her family and friends. With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother Arlene on February 20, 2016, in Sherwood Park, AB at the age of 90 years.
Arlene leaves her three sons and their families to cherish her memories: Jim(Chery Ann) of Sherwood Park and their children Shawn(Crista) and Chad(Carrie); Don(Sharon) of Fort St John, BC and their children Cory(Kim), Kimberley and Carson; Bob(Tina) of Linden, Michigan and their children Jared(Katie), Torrie(Brian Todorow) and Lexie; her seven great grandchildren; Ashley, Aiden, Bode, Vander, Hazely, Huck and Mayelle; also, her niece Joan Casper and nephew Glen Elliott.
Arlene was predeceased by her husband Bill; her parents Bertha and Archie Elliott; brothers Keith (Orma) and Harold; Bill’s parents Alma “Nanny” and William; her sisters-in-law Ruth Hubert and Blythe Dowson.
Arlene was born in Dodsland, SK in 1925, and grew up in the Beaufield and Kerrobert area. She met and married Bill while teaching school in Dodsland. Arlene helped on the farm and worked at the Dodsland General Hospital. She was an active participant in many community organizations and activities. Arlene enjoyed sports; hockey, baseball and curling – supporting her children and grandchildren. They lived on the farm until September 1994 when they retired to Medicine Hat. She made and enjoyed many friends from her days in Dodsland, Medicine Hat and Aquadeo Beach. Arlene was a wonderful, gracious, and lovely lady who had a warm smile, plenty of wit, and a great sense of humour. Late in life she tackled her health challenges with hope and courage; she drew great strength and perseverance from those who touched her life.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to all the Doctors and caregivers for their kindness, support, and compassion for Arlene as she presented herself at Meadowlands Retirement Residence, Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, St Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat, and Capital Care Strathcona, Sherwood Park.
Internment will take place at a later date in Dodsland, SK.

Jerome “Jerry” Anton Koehler passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at the age of 66 years, beloved husband of Bev Koehler, his true love and favorite dance partner of 46 years. He also leaves to cherish his two greatest accomplishments, son, Travis Koehler of Okotoks and daughter, Brandi (Donavon) Martin of Medicine Hat, and the pride and joy of his life – his three grandchildren, Kasey, Reed and Ally; three brothers, Albert, Frank and Donald; three sisters, Sophie (John) Thome, Kathy (John) Bunkowsky, Joanne (Garry) Stott; brothers-in-law and sisters-on-law, Margaret (Gary) Hudson, Donna (Larry) Finlay, Don Mitchell, Jean Koehler, Lena Koehler and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Katherine and Pius Koehler; four brothers, Walter, Alfred, Ron and Wendell and two sisters, Julie and Anne.
Jerry worked at Canadian Fertilizers for his entire adult life. He was a great employee, friend and mentor. He was loved by everyone who met him and this world is much worse without him. He lived for his family and wouldn’t have had it any other way. When he wasn’t spending time with his family, he enjoyed working in his beautiful yard.

LERNER

Anne Marie Lerner passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at the age of 82 years, beloved wife of Frank Lerner of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory her children, Brian (Debbie), Stewart and Ron; her grandchildren, Dustin (Lacey), Jamie, Xanthe, and Chantara and one sister, Katie Mastel. She was predeceased by her parents, Ben and Rose Bonagofsky and her brothers, Clem, Joe, George, Martin and Jack. Anne was born on December 5th, 1933, on the family farm. She married Frank on February 12, 1958. Together they farmed in Fox Valley until 2004, when they moved into Maple Creek. In 2014, they moved to Medicine Hat where they remained until her passing. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. SHERRY KROFT

1967 ~ 2016
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sherry Lynn Kroft announce her passing in Medicine Hat on Friday, February 26, 2016, at the age of 48 years. Sherry was born in Kindersley, SK., on June 12, 1967. She spent most of her childhood in Irvine where she attended school and later finished her high school in Wainwright. She continued to further her education earning a diploma in Business Administration and was recently training to be a Medical Office Assistant. She was well liked by everyone who met her and she enjoyed staying connected with her many friends on Facebook. Sherry was always game to sit around the table, socialize and play cards with friends and family. Not only was she an avid card player, Sherry also had a coin collection she was proud of. Throughout the years, she faced many struggles and obstacles that life can bring. By giving her life to God, this gave her the strength and hope to live her life to the fullest. Sherry will be remembered by her son, Zachary; father, Mulvey (Eileen Moncks); three brothers; Murray and his family, Jessica and Evan (Riven, Willow and Jak); Mark and Mike (Tami) and their daughter, Karagyn and a close friend, Dean Bodnar. Sherry was predeceased by her mother, Sara as well as her grandparents.
