1920 ~ FAUSER ~ 2016

Fred Fauser of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of Ruth (Makus) Fauser for 69 years, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016 at the age of 95 years. Fred also leaves to cherish his memory his two sons, Stewart (Ruth Ann) Fauser and Greg (Karen) Fauser; five grandchildren, Amanda Borle (Blain) and their children, Hunter and Holden; Sheldon Fauser (Natalie) and their children, Marie, Skylar and Daxan; Aaron Fauser (Andrea) and their daughter, Georgia; Tim Fauser (Melissa) and their daughter, Kylie; and Mark Fauser (Christina), as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Matilda Fauser; and four sisters. Fred was born on April 27, 1920 in Golden Prairie, Saskatchewan. In 1942, Fred was called into the army where he spent four years serving in Canada and Europe, being discharged in Spring 1946. Fred and Ruth were married on September 28, 1946 after a seven year courtship. Together they made their home in Medicine Hat. Fred worked for the Brick and Tile for four and a half years before starting a 34 year career with the Canadian Pacific Railway, retiring in March 1985. Fred was actively involved in many things including helping while his sons who were involved with the Boy Scouts and the church Boys Club. Fred thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years where he was able to spend more time hunting, fishing and sports. The Funeral Service will be held at WUERFEL AUDITORIUM, 1720 Bell Street SW, on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor John Enns and Pastor Bob Findley co-officiating. ELHART

Margaret Rose Elhart passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the age of 67 years, beloved wife of Keith Elhart of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory two children, Bobbie (Shawn) Elhart-Palech and Jordon Elhart all of Medicine Hat; her close friend Darlene Ford “Sister Suzie”; and her beloved Shitzu, Sadie. She was predeceased by her parents, Mathilda and Henry Schmidt. Margaret was born on October 15, 1948, in Drumheller and raised on a farm north of Irvine. Marg and Keith were married in September 19, 1970 in Medicine Hat and had resided for a short period of time in both Calgary and Winnipeg. After returning to Medicine Hat, Marg joined Sears in 1980, and worked there until her retirement in 2010. Marg was an avid reader and a loving homemaker. She also enjoyed many years camping with her family and loved the vacations she and Keith took to the Hawaiian Islands. Marg was a very positive person and loving mother, wife and friend to all who knew her. MICHELLE ANNE DORMAN

Michelle passed away unexpectedly of natural cause early on January 4, 2016. Born in Noranda, Quebec in 1943 and a resident of Medicine Hat since 1995. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, John; her sister Paulette Godin of Medicine Hat and her brother Terry Godin of St. Catharines, Ontario. At Michelle's request there will be no formal service. Memorial donations in her name may be sent to the charity of your choice; Michelle's was the Canadian Cancer Society.


ROBERT ALLAN NIEMAN

August 13, 1947 ~ January 1, 2016

It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert Allan Nieman announce his passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, January 1, 2016, at the age of 68 years. Bob was surrounded by family and so much love as he began his new journey. Bob was predeceased by his father, Elmer (2009); mother, Madge (2015); brother, Larry (1975) and his wife, Carole Don (2005). Bob is survived by his children, Stacy Jussila (Nadine), Jodie Groves and her children, Rylund, Brooklyn, Treydon; Mike Nieman (Debbie) and family, Cody, Kyle, Daytona; Taylor, Karder; Pat Nieman and family. Also surviving Bob are his sister, Debbie Carlin (Brian); nieces, Tamara, Jillaine and families; brother, David (Rita) and nephews, Brent, Blair & families. Robert Allan was born August 13, 1947, in Medicine Hat. Bob was a good friend to so many people, he would start a conversation with anyone. He had a generous and kind heart and was always willing to help. Bob loved all animals especially dogs. His day was occupied by long and faithful walks with his dog, Samson, stopping to talk to neighbours and friends along the way with dog treats always in his pocket. Bob’s faith and beliefs in God were the foundation of his life. His schedule was full of commitments to his church and his fellowship. Family, friends, and church were the priorities in his life. We were not ready to say our good byes, but have comfort knowing Bob is with the Lord and those he loved and those who have gone before him. Special thank you to ICU staff for their great care and compassion. SIMONE BRASSARD

1921 ~ 2016
Simone Alphonsine Brassard beloved wife of the late Laurent Brassard, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritans on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the age of 94 years. Simone was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec on January 26, 1921, to Donald and Yvonne Fleurent. She married Laurent in Montreal on August 9, 1943. Her Catholic faith was important to her and she lived each day as an example of her belief. To Simone, her family came first, and whatever work Laurent did to support the family, Simone was there 100 of the way. She made numerous beautiful quilts and was an accomplished seamstress making various garments for the family. The summer months found Simone spending countless hours propagating flowers in her greenhouse. Their 40th wedding anniversary celebration in Quebec was an especially memorable occasion they shared with family and friends. Simone enjoyed the running of the sap in late February when it was once again time to make Maple Syrup, Laurent’s retirement project – “a cabane a sucre” (sugar shack). Simone’s memory will be treasured in the hearts of her family: daughter, Lise (Terry) Pederson; grandchildren, Kari Pederson and Travis Pederson; great-grandchildren, Mathew Gagne and Danielle Gagne; sister-in-law, Dolores Bérubé as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Father Tomy Manjaly celebrant. WIGLE

Richard Oliver Wigle passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016, at the age of 54 years after a courageous struggle with ALS, beloved husband of Jan Wigle of Medicine Hat and loving father of Nicolas Wigle (Keanna Bertin) and grandfather of Oliver. He will also be mourned by his mother, Rita Wigle; one brother, Ray (Mindah) Wigle and one sister, Rachael (Jean) Caron; his mother-in-law Jeanne Hunter and sister-in-law Kim (Rick) McClymont as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Raymer Wigle and by his father-in-law Jimmy Hunter.
Rick was born in Stratford, Ontario on May 22nd, 1961, and grew up in Ingersoll Ontario. He excelled in school and in many sports.
In 1982, while attending the University of Western Ontario, he was offered a job with Federal Corrections and moved out west to Drumheller, Alberta. After five years in corrections, he was finally able to realize his dream of following in his father's footsteps by becoming a police officer when he was offered a position with the Medicine Hat Police Service in 1987. It was while he was in training that he met the love of his life, Jan. They were married on October 13th, 1988, and settled in Medicine Hat. In 1996, Rick became a father, and Nick was everything to him. In May of 2015, Rick was blessed with his beautiful grandson Oliver, who brought him much joy during his most difficult months.
Rick had a true passion for life. He gave his everything into everything he did. He loved his family, his friends and his job. He was fortunate enough be able to travel extensively with his family and friends during his life. He left no stone unturned.
