1929 ~ RATCLIFF ~ 2015
Henry "Art" Ratcliff, much loved husband of the late Wilma Joyce Ratcliff, passed away on Sunday, December 6th, 2015 at the age of 86 years. Art leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Jennifer Alwyn (Joe) Buckler, Trevor (Melanie), and Allistair. Left to carry on his legacy are his grandchildren, Warren (Carla) Buckler, Ian Buckler, Charlotte Ratcliff, Emily Ratcliff and David Ratcliff. The lights of Art's life were his two great-grandsons, Kaedan and Cooper Buckler. Art greatly appreciated the time spent with his “other” granddaughter, Paloma. Art loved to spend time at the family cabin in Elkwater. Before Wilma's passing, they enjoyed a six-week motorhome trek to the Yukon with their daughter, Alwyn and son-in-law, Joe. Art had a 30-year career with the Medicine Hat Police Service after working for six years on the Edmonton Police Force. He was honoured by the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and received the rank of 33rd degree mason. Art enjoyed the fellowship and friendship of his Order of the Eastern Star brothers and sisters. He was an active member of St. Ambrose Church in Redcliff which he referred to as his second family. Art was predeceased by his son, Warren in 1964. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Good Sam's who cared for our dad with such devotion and love, "you light up my life". 1944 ~ BELANGER ~ 2015
Robert "Bob" Belanger passed away on Wednesday, December 9th, 2015 at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with his beloved wife, Sandra, by his side. Bob was born at Kennosee Lake, Saskatchewan on July 8th, 1944 to a family of eight children. He was the son of Art and Winnifred Belanger. Bob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sandra (whom he met on October 13th, 1984); two sons, Robbie and Jason; one daughter, Michelle; and three step- children, Kim, Steve, and Terry as well as several grandchildren and his two beloved pets, Chester and Ester. Bob started to work for Coca Cola in 1964. In 1985, he went to work for Old Dutch and from 2000 to 2015 he was employed with the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede. Bob was well known by many people in this community. Keith Sykes of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, December 7th, 2015 at the age of 49 years. Keith leaves to cherish his memory his three children, Jeffery Sykes of Vancouver, Kyle Sykes and Katelyn Sykes, both of Medicine Hat; one grandson, Harley Kesler; his mother, Netta Sykes; two brothers, Steve (Denise) Sykes and Glen Sykes, both of Medicine Hat; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Keith was predeceased by his father, Jeffery Sykes; and one brother, Andy Sykes. Keith loved spending time with family, friends, and his extended pub family. He enjoyed watching soccer and hockey and especially spending time with his grandson. Keith was always there for everyone and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. AGNES SOLVERSON
Agnes Solverson passed away peacefully at the Father Lacombe Care Centre in Calgary on Tuesday, December 8th, 2015 at the age of 91 years. Agnes leaves to cherish her memory one son, Larry (Janet) Solverson of Okotoks; two grandsons, Craig (Lydia) and Kevin, both of Calgary; two sisters, Mary Dell of Medicine Hat; and Velma (Tom) Impey of Breton; one brother, Joe Stenger of Medicine Hat; and sister-in-law, Peggy Stenger of Victoria; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Hubert; and brother, Alex.
Agnes was born on January 24th, 1924 in Hungary and immigrated to Canada with her parents when she was five years old. She grew up on a farm near Empress, Alberta. After attending Normal School, she started her teaching career in southern Saskatchewan where she met her husband, Hubert and they were married on November 17th, 1945. After their marriage, she continued teaching until they settled in Smiley, Saskatchewan. She and Hubert retired to Medicine Hat. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

HERINGER
Clarence Charles Heringer, 76, of Medicine Hat, Alberta passed away peacefully, with family by his side at the Mazankowski Heart Institute in Edmonton, Alberta, on December 1, 2015. He is predeceased by his parents John, and Caroline, brothers, Ray, Oscar, sisters Anne, Elsie, Ruth, Irene and Miriam. Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife Ruth, children Lori (Ray) Battochio, Karen (Jim) Egeto, grandchildren, Bryan (Samantha) Battochio, Matthew Battochio, Danielle, Blake, and Adam Schafer, brothers Wilf and Sid (Margaret), and sister-in-law Edna and numerous close friends and relatives.
Clarence was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on January 13, 1939. He married his sweetheart, Ruth, in 1960. Clarence had deep faith in God and he was a compassionate and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Clarence brought joy to the lives of people around him. He had a tremendous sense of humour, and zest for life, which brought a positive and hopeful outlook to everyone he touched.
Clarence had a passion for music, and profound sense of commitment to give back to his community. He demonstrated this throughout his life as he partnered to establish the Medicine Hat Marching Boys Band, regularly performed musically at church and community functions, and played in the gospel band ‘Play It Again’. He was a self-taught musician, who played many different instruments including the piano, organ, trumpet, accordion, but his favourite was the trombone. Clarence also enjoyed time serving the Medicine Hat community in many other ways including service to the Lions Club, Stampede Parade, and Jump Start.
Clarence began his working career in the newspaper advertising industry at the Medicine Hat News progressing through ascending leadership positions with Southam News. His career took him to Montreal, Toronto, Windsor, Edmonton, and concluded, as it began, at the Medicine Hat News. After retirement from the newspaper industry, Clarence served as the executive director of the Medicine Hat United Way for three years.

PEARSON
Louise Therese Pearson passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015, at the age of 71 years, beloved wife of Les Pearson of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory her son, Chris Pearson; her sister, Colette Guzik of Regina and her daughter Lara; Les’s sister, Shirley (Jack) Twietmeyer and their daughter, Tina Twietmeyer. She was predeceased by her parents, G. A. “Babe” and Kathleen Beaudin. Louise was born on October 14, 1944 in Regina, Saskatchewan. In 1971, she met Les Pearson while both attended classes at the University of Regina. The couple’s 32 year careers in education spanned most of northern Alberta including Ashmont, Grand Cache, Edson, Ft. McMurray and Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. In 1996, they moved to Medicine Hat when Les was appointed as the first principal of Eagle Butte High School and Louise took positions first at Bow Island, then at Margaret Wooding in Redcliff. Both retired from teaching in 2001, but Louise found personal rewards in working for her church and community. She was active in the Medicine Hat Folk Club where she phoned volunteers for the TOP Festival and concert series. Louise took great pleasure in volunteering in the ESL program at Saamis Immigration. As the lyrics go, “To know her was to love her.” She leaves a chasm in many hearts. A celebration of life will be held in Unity Lutheran Church (8 Palliser Place NE) on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Decelle officiating. Mr. Rodney Dale Schultz of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at the age of 59 years. Rod is survived by his son, Chad; Chad’s mother, Darlene; brother, Dennis (Pat) Schultz; sisters, Janice Kundert, Brenda (Alan) Laube, Sandra (Azra) Schultz as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Laura Schultz and his nephew, William Schultz. He also leaves behind his puppies whom he loved dearly. Rod enjoyed fishing and hunting and especially hanging out with his hunting buddies. He was a kind, caring soul who would never hesitate to give a helping hand to others. Rod worked for the CPR and in the oil field. He will be forever missed by all who knew him. Rod’s life will be honoured and his memory cherished without the proceedings of a formal funeral service.
