ANNE LEDENE

June 28, 1923 – August 15, 2015
Anne was born in Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Canada with her parents and older sister in 1928. She moved to Vidora, Saskatchewan where she was charged with raising her three younger brothers following the death of her mother. While living in Vidora, she met her first husband Peter Kipta whom she married in 1940. The family moved from Vidora to Rolling Hills, Alberta in 1941. She continued to raise her three brothers and then began to raise her own family. Anne operated the restaurant in Rolling Hills for several years while living on the family farm and caring for the family. In 1955 mom and dad moved to Medicine Hat, where mom was employed as a house cleaner and as a seamstress for Hutchings and Sharpe and Hawthornes Mens Wear. Mom was a wonderful cook and made sure everyone always had enough to eat, regardless of who might come to visit. She was always insistent you eat more than you could possibly hold. She would welcome anyone who came to visit with a home cooked meal and pastries and was always happy to see anyone who chose to visit. Following the meal and the visit, you were always sent away with a big hug and kiss. Anne cared deeply for her family and never missed celebrating a birthday or anniversary or any other special occasion, with a gift for whom ever it might be. Christmas was a very special time in mom’s life and everyone always received a gift from the youngest to the oldest family member or friend. She was always dressed ‘to the nines” and it was very important that she look her best at all times. She loved clothes and would always shop in order to look her very best and prettiest at all times. Anne enjoyed her time at the Viener Centre line dancing with the girls until the age of 91. She always wore lipstick and rouge and was concerned about how she looked, right to the end. She was a wonderful, caring person who was always concerned about others. Anne is survived by her son, Gerry (Betty) Kipta; daughter, Melodie (Don) Berehula; daughter and best friend, Marilyn Wenzel and step-son, Robert Ledene; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one grand step child; her brothers, John (Jane) Andrejcin and Mike Andrejcin (Joan Abel) and son-in-law Roy Bechtold as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by he first husband, Peter Kipta, her second husband, Art Ledene and special friend, George Brice; her older sister, Mary Ushey and brother Steve Andrejcin. Anne’s oldest daughter Rose Marie Bechtold predeceased her in July of this year. The family would like to express a special thank you to the very special people at St. Joseph’s Carmel Hospice, who cared for her in her final days. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Decelle officiating. A private family interment will take place in the Hillside Cemetery.
