LYLE ALEMAN “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and
lean not on your own understanding.†Prov. 3:5.
With a heavy heart but not without hope we announce the sudden passing of Lyle Aleman at the age of 44 on June 4, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife Carisa Aleman (Bekkering) and his five precious daughters Jenna, Kelsy, Megan, Halle and Eryn. He was a dear son of Mike and Mary Aleman, brother to Kim (Paul) Thorsteinson and Leanne (Dyron) Provost, son-in-law to John and Helen Bekkering, brother-in-law to Matthew (Stephanie) Bekkering, Kathryn (Jason) Ferrie and Stephen Bekkering. He was loved by many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and special friends.
Lyle was born Feb. 24, 1971 in Lacombe, Alberta. The family moved to Medicine Hat in 1977. He graduated from Crescent Heights High School in 1988. He went on to study at The University of Lethbridge and earned his Bachelor of Commerce in 1993. His family was involved in the greenhouse business and he was blessed to work at RedHat Co-op as General Manager. His integrity and passion shone through in his daily work.
He married his best friend Carisa on May 15, 1999. They were truly blessed with five wonderful and treasured girls. He loved each of them dearly and encouraged them to use their individual talents to serve others and the Lord. He loved spending time with them playing badminton, shooting hoops, teaching them to fix sprinkler heads, building projects, playing games, reading stories, driving side-by-sides or just snuggling together watching a movie. We will miss his smile and laughter and hugs.
He showed his servant-heart by serving multiple terms on church council of the Medicine Hat Christian Reformed Church and as an executive board member of the Medicine Hat Christian School.
Lyle was respected and loved by so many people and we pray that God will give peace and understanding as we approach the days, months and years ahead.

MARECK Patricia “Pat†Gail Mareck of Medicine Hat passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at the age of 70 years. Pat was the beloved wife of the late Donald Mareck and treasured Mom to Terra. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Terra (Bob) Nicolay; one sister, Lexie Lambert; her nephew, Chris (Mary) Benson and their children, Jacoba and Tylin; and two grandchildren, Michelle (Nathan) Blackburn; Heather (Kent) Edney and their children, Kelton, Olivia and Jackson. She was predeceased by her parents, Shirley Reynolds and Tom William Stocker; her husband, Donald Mareck; her brother, Bill Stocker; her sister, Janet McKinstry; and her dear companion, Ken Lennstrom.
Pat was born in Moncton, New Brunswick and raised in Marshall, Saskatchewan. She attended the University of Alberta and, in 1964, was one of the early graduates of its school of dental hygiene. While employed with Public Health in St. Paul, Pat met Don, who was there working for A.G.T. They married in 1966, and their only child, Terra Dawn, was born a couple of years later. After short residences in Vermillion and in Calgary, the family settled in Medicine Hat in 1976, where Pat soon began working as a dental hygienist with River Centre Dental Clinic. Pat took delight in her career and colleagues there for nearly 30 years. Following Don’s death in 2001, Pat moved to Calgary for several years, living just up the road from Terra and Bob. She returned to Medicine Hat five years ago with her dear companion, Ken.
Pat was happiest when enjoying time with her family, or out laughing with her many cherished friends. Quick with a quip and sharp of mind, she made connections easily and then held tightly to the people she loved. Pat was prodigiously proud of “her-daughter-the-lawyerâ€, and the time she spent visiting Terra and Bob was precious to all. A close second to Terra was Pat’s adored cocker spaniel, Maggie, who gave Pat an eager outlet for her unfettered affection for dogs. Pat deeply appreciated her career at River Centre, and took joy from having followed her patients through their lives. Pat relished her regular trips to visit family, whether out to Vancouver Island or to Houston. Pat was known and loved for her passion for books; her fundamental kindness when kindness was most needed; her skill with poetry; her fondness for cleaning (indeed, if cleanliness is truly next to godliness, then she has been in Heaven now for years); her irreverent sense of humour; and her “I am woman, hear me roar†independent spirit. Pat was a life force much to be missed in the lives she touched.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude and thanks for the personal care provided by Dr. Duke, Dr. Weigel, Dr. Bratvold and the other primary physicians who cared for Pat during her recent hospital stay. Special thanks to the kind and profoundly compassionate staff on Unit 4W at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 12 noon – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Medicine Hat S.P.C.A. – 55 Southwest Drive SW, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 8E8. To e-mail an expression of sympathy, please direct it to:
