1921 ~ RUFF ~ 2015

Edwin Ruff, beloved husband of Yvonne Ruff of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, March 27th, 2015 at the age of 93 years. Edwin also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Garry Ruff (Donna) and Gail Millen (Harvey); five grandchildren, Jennifer Lembke (Mike), Jerod Ruff (Kate), Sarah Dowler (Corey), Candace Millen and Katherine Millen-Woore (Philip); five great grandchildren; two step-children, Lynn McKee-Ruck (Tim) and Elaine Muller (Darin); two step- grandchildren, T.C and Alex; one brother, Ben Ruff; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edwin was predeceased by his parents, Christian and Katherine Ruff; four brothers, Edward, Henry, Bill and Art; five sisters, Martha, Molly, Annie, Esther and Emma. Edwin was born on November 14th, 1921 in Hilda, Alberta and lived in Medicine Hat most of his life. 1946 ~ WAUGH ~ 2015

Mrs. Adina "Diane" Waugh of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of Mr. Samuel "Sam" Waugh, passed away on Friday, March 20th, 2015 at the age of 69 years. Diane’s cherished memory will remain in the hearts of her daughter, Tya-Marie (Anthony) Erickson; her twin brother, Chester and two older brothers, Lascelle (Ruby) and Rudolph; five sisters, Monica, Hyacinth, Jackie, Florence and Fay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Diane was predeceased by her parents, John and Gwendlyn Bailey; three brothers, George, John Wesley and Victor; and two sisters, Elizabeth and Isabelle. Diane was born in Manchester, Jamaica on January 19th, 1946, where she was also raised and educated. She moved to Canada in 1976 and started working at the Best Western Hotel as Head Housekeeper for over 20 years. Diane had an eye for gardening and took great pride in her flowers surrounding her home. Diane also enjoyed shopping, spending time with her husband and daughter and later son in law, as well talking daily with her sister in town. Deeply active within the church community, Diane was a prayer warrior and faithful in her prayer towards others. She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her many friends and family. Joseph Dirk (March 18, 1924 – March 28, 2015)
Joseph Dirk of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Margaret Dirk (Bachmier) passed away peacefully on March 28, 2015 at the age of 91 years. Left to cherish his memory are his ten children, Brian (Julie), Lance (Phyllis), Brenda (Jean), Al, Wanda (Dale), Darby (Donna), Gwen, Lucy, Joseph (Victoria), and Gerard (Pam); 22 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian (Milbert) and Betty; and one brother Peter. Joseph was predeceased by his wife Margaret on April 22, 2007; three sisters, Anna, Agatha, and Mary and two brothers, Dan and Richard. ISABEL (JACKIE) BUFFETT, RN

With her loving son, Donald, by her side during her final moments, Isabel (Jackie) Buffett passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre in Airdrie, AB. on Saturday, March 28, 2015. Jackie was born in Bell Island, Newfoundland. She was the youngest girl of eleven siblings to proud parents, William and Alice Jackman. She graduated with her Registered Psychiatric Nursing Degree from St. Claire’s Mercy Hospital in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Jackie was a nurse all of her life. She started her career at Waterford Hospital, St. John’s, then Janeway Children’s Hospital, St. John’s and finally Hoyles Home, St. John’s. Jackie married John Cecil Buffett in 1964 and had her only son, Donald James Buffett. The family moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1977 where Jackie resumed nursing at the Haven of Rest and finished her career at the Medicine Hat and District Hospital in the Auxiliary Unit caring for geriatric patients. She was predeceased by her husband, John Cecil Buffett in 1981 as well as numerous siblings. Jackie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Donald Buffett (fiancée Alison Molloy) of Airdrie, Alberta; sister, Mary Butler of Niagara Falls, ON. and step-son, Sheldon Buffett of Wolfville, NS. Her life was marked with service and caring for numerous patients and their families throughout her career. Remarkably, at the end of her life, though she suffered with Alzheimer’s, Jackie was a kind, loving and funny woman with a feisty spirit who was able to bring joy and comfort to those around her. She will be greatly missed. Sherry Lynn Morrey passed away in Edmonton on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at the age of 48 years. NICKEL

Melitta Nickel of Medicine Hat passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the age of 84 years, beloved wife of the late Alfred Nickel. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Bernhard (Lisa) Nickel (their grandson, Izaiah), Willy (Yvonne) Nickel and Armin (Rosemary) Nickel; seven grandchildren, Kara, Karmin (Tommy) and their children Avery and Bailee; Kandice, Kristin (Mitch), Hannah, Loni and Sonia (Jeremy); two brothers, Alfred (Pat) Schempp and Rudy (Shirley) Schempp, three sisters, Nelly Petke, Irma Chinn (Dennis) and Christine (Murray) Gray, one brother-in-law, Arnold (Brigetta) Nickel as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Emma and Albert Schempp; her husband, Alfred on October 22, 2003; three brothers, Henry and Andreas in infancy, her brother, Oswald and her grandson, Quinn. Melitta was born on March 27, 1931, in Johannestahl, Ukraine. With her parents and siblings, she immigrated to Canada in 1955, making their first home in Fort Macleod and then settling in Medicine Hat. It was in St. Peter Lutheran Church that she met Alfred. They married May 11, 1957, and raised their three sons in the house they built together. Melitta was a devoted homemaker, spending time in the garden, sewing, cooking, canning, and singing with Alfred in the church choir. Melitta always made time for anyone visiting; providing coffee or a meal to her guests at just about any time of day. She enjoyed this tradition even after Alfred’s passing. Immigrating to Canada as a young adult posed many challenges that she took on with honesty, dignity, and humility. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she has touched. STRAUSS (GOTHE)

Ingeborg (Gothe) Strauss passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, nearing 88 years of life. She was predeceased by her first husband, Walter Gothe in 1983, her second husband, Ed Strauss in 1993, and by a step- granddaughter Lynnetta Strauss in 2012. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Jurgen (Kate) Gothe and Peter (Doreen) Gothe; her grandchildren, Colette Lynch, Jordan (Rachelle) Gothe, Kelsey (Dave) Williams and twin great grandsons, Cohen and Everett Williams; two children Henry (Loretta) Strauss and Ella Binder; six grandchildren Neil (Judy) Strauss, Brian (Cheryl) Strauss, Kathy (Ralph) Korner, Karla (Gerritt) Vermeer, Arlene (Roland) Poehlke and Rodney (Liane) Binder; twenty four great grandchildren all who loved her and she enjoyed eleven great great grandchildren. Inge was born and raised in Germany, later making Canada her home. She was an extremely caring person with a beautiful servant heart, always caring for someone other than herself. Her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ was very evident. She lived and walked her faith. Inge spent nearly 30 years moving through the various stages of the South Country Village facility being a support and servant to many in her everyday life.
