U17 SAHA sweeps home weekend

The South Alberta Hockey Academy’s U17 team had a winning weekend at the Big Marble Go Centre.

SAHA’s youngest men’s team hosted OHA Edmonton for a three-game set starting Friday, winning all three matchups.

They opened the weekend with a 7-3 win Friday.

Three players tallied three points with Cole Fisher scoring twice with an assist and both Garrison Peck and Kingston Chisholm had a goal and two assists.

Koen Gauthier had a goal and an assist and both Ty Wasyluk and Jacob Penley had a goal, Mattias Radke made 25 saves.

Defenceman Theron Bensler led the offence in Saturday’s 8-5 win, tallying two goals with an assist.

Chisholm had a goal with two assists and all four of Gauthier, Wasyluk, Yker Klassen and Fisher had a goal and an assist. Brennan Finke had a solo marker and Steven Wawryk made 32 saves.

The U17s wrapped up the weekend with an 8-2 win, led by Jack Elliott’s goal and three assists. Fisher and Peck each tallied two goals and Ty Hynes chipped in a goal with two helpers.

Grady McLeod and Wyatt Brooks also scored in the win and Radke made 37 saves.

SAHA’s U17 men’s team (12-11-1-1) are on the road for four games this weekend.

U18 women

SAHA’s U18 women’s team competed at the Female World Sport School Challenge this weekend in Winnipeg. They won three of their four games.

SAHA opened the weekend with a 4-3 win over the Yellowhead Chiefs. Keyana Bert scored twice and both Kenzie Carson and Keira Grant found the back of the net. Taylor Cohen made 29 saves.

They had two games Friday, beating the Prince Albert Northern Bears 6-1 before falling 5-3 to the Winnipeg Avros.

Grant had two goals and an assist in the win over Prince Albert. Maddison Andrew, Carson and Bert each had a goal and an assist and Riley Grimlich tallied a solo marker as well. Cohen made 29 saves in the win.

Brianna Finke, Addison Eurich and Bert each scored and Kamryn Reiber had two assists in the loss Friday. Maddy Ferguson made 21 saves.

They finished the weekend with a 5-2 win Saturday over the Westman Wildcats.

Addison Eurich had a goal and an assist and all four of Grant, Jaylee Skog, Carson and Bert tallied a goal. Ferguson made 28 saves.

SAHA’s U18 women’s team (10-9) have two home games this weekend against Edge school. They host Edge on Saturday at 3:15 p.m. and on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
