After Gavin McKenna’s hat trick, game-winning goal propelled the Tigers to an 8-7 win in overtime Friday at Swift Current over the Broncos, Medicine Hat lost 4-3 Saturday at Co-op Place to the Moose Jaw Warriors. Saturday’s loss was a special teams affair, with Moose Jaw scoring twice on the power play and also capitalizing with two shorthanded goals. The Tigers also utilized the special teams, with Hunter St. Martin scoring shorthanded and Shane Smith capitalizing on the man advantage, scoring his sixth of the season on a power play. Smith’s goal gives him points in all of the Tigers’ first seven games of the season, with the Cessford, Alta. product totalling six goals and eight points. Cayden Lindstrom also scored in Saturday’s contest, giving him five goals on the young campaign. Evan May was between the pipes, making 18 saves in his sixth start. He’s appeared in all seven games for the Tigers, with a 3-1-1 record in his first season as a starter. The Tigers (4-2-1) open their B.C road trip this week and are at Kelowna on Saturday taking on the Rockets. 8
