Med Hat Soccer Association hires new technical director

The Medicine Hat Soccer Association filled the role of their technical director.

The association announced Monday the signing of Joe Taylor to fulfill the role.

The technical director will be responsible for player development, coaching development and working with the association to increase the overall enhancement of the soccer programs in Medicine Hat.

Taylor joins MHSA from the affiliation and partnership with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC of the MLS. The Whitecaps FC recruited Taylor to work with the MHSA in player and coach development at all levels of the association. He arrived from the UK where he previously worked with Manchester City of the Premier League.

His work with Man City included community programming, working with schools and colleges and community leagues. He was involved with training and development of the game. He previously worked in Malawi as the head of the academy of coaching for ASCENT, a full-time soccer academy and scholarship program for the country. He’s also led other soccer program’s in China and the U.S.

Taylor and his family arrived in Medicine Hat on June 1 and, according to the press release, he is excited to bring his experience and expertise to Medicine Hat.
