The Medicine Hat Tigers have a must-win ahead of them Saturday at Co-op Place. The Tigers fell 3-1 Friday night in Swift Current against the Broncos. With the loss, the Tigers (29-29-8-1) are only one point ahead of the Broncos for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern conference. Medicine Hat hosts the Broncos Saturday at Co-op Place for a winner-take-all game. Swift Current’s Josh Filmon opened the scoring 11:08 into the first period with his 46th of the season. Neither team got on the scoreboard in the rest of the first period or in the second with the Broncos out shooting the Tigers 24-20 in that span. Swift Current forward and Medicine Hat product Caleb Wyrostok scored 4:45 into the third period before he capitalized on a penalty shot at the 12:16 for his 24th goal on the season and the 3-0 lead for Swift Current. The Tigers got on the board with a goal from Gavin McKenna with 6:20 left in the final frame. Tyler MacKenzie and Bogdans Hodass had the helpers on McKenna’s fourth of the year. Swift Current held on for the 3-1 win with 30 saves from net minder Reid Dyck. Across the ice from him Beckett Langkow made 26 saves. The Tigers penalty kill went a perfect 7-for-7 and could not capitalize on their three power plays. 9
