Tabbies sign another 2021 draft pick, ink goaltender McCallum

By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on February 24, 2022.

The Medicine Hat Tigers added to their goaltending depth Wednesday morning.

The club put pen to paper with ’06 born goaltender Ethan McCallum, who was selected 39th overall by the Tigers in the 2021 WHL prospect draft in December.

McCallum, from Brandon, Man., has appeared in 18 games for the CSSHL’s Notre Dame Hounds U16 prep team this season. He’s holds a 3.91 GAA and a .910 save percentage with a 4-11-1 record.

The 15-year-old also appeared in one game for the U18 Hounds, surrendering two goals and posting a .913 save percentage to pick up a win.

Tigers general manager and head coach Willie Desjardins said in a team release he’s excited to attract good, high-end talent to the organization.

“Ethan was a high draft pick and highly regarded in this years prospect draft,” Desjardins said. “We’d like to welcome Ethan and his family to the Tigers organization and look forward to watching him develop and chasing his hockey dreams.”

The signing comes the same day that Tigers netminder Beckett Langkow was listed as day-to-day after getting cut on a shot in Tuesday’s practice.
