It’s been a long week of practice for the Crescent Heights Vikings.

Coming off of a lopsided 34-7 loss last Friday at the hands of the Hat High Hawks, the Vikings are looking forward to getting back on the field this week. They head to Airdrie today to take on W.H. Croxford High in an 1 p.m. game.

For Vikings head coach Sean Davis, the extra day of practice will set the team up nice for the game.

“I think we are as ready to play as we are going to be. The kids’ spirits are still high and they are ready to play, so we’ll see how tomorrow goes,” he said.

Before the loss to Hat High last week, the Vikings were enjoying a good start to season with riding a perfect 3-0 record. Davis says he reminded his team that one game does not define a season and that they are a good football team.

“Sometimes you lose and sometimes you get your butt whipped. Both of those things certainly happened to us last Friday,” Davis said. “The message we sent to the kids was pretty simple, one game doesn’t determine the outcome of your season and if we play like we can we can play with anybody.”

He says Croxford has a good football program and that both teams matchup athlete to athlete. He agreed that he and his team wanted to get back on the field as soon as clock expired in their loss.

“They want to get out there and show that that’s not the Vikings team that they are or want to be. I’m excited to see how they show up,” he said.
