Equestian awards go to two teams of Hatters

A pair of local athletes and their equine teammates were awarded top honours at the provincial level this past weekend.

Michelle Rowe and Julie-Ann Jans both took first-place ribbons home from the Jump Alberta Awards Gala Saturday night in Calgary.

At the Deerfoot Inn and Casino, Rowe and her horse Belog were named 2019 champions in the 0.90 metre Medal Division. In the Greenhawk Children’s Medal Division it was Jans, with her horse Libertie, who took top prize.

Both riders are students of Willowbend and Benchmark Equestrian in Medicine Hat.
