Waves do well in Calgary

Just making the final in a swim meet like the one this past weekend in Calgary is a big deal, so imagine the excitement for six of the 12 Medicine Hat Waves swimmers who medalled. At the Cascade Swim Club’s age group challenge, Waves combined for eight medals, including three from 11-year-old Kage Senft. Senft won the 200 metre freestyle, then finished second in both his 100 metre backstroke and 50 metre butterfly. With 700 swimmers in total at the meet, that was no easy feat. Also winning gold was 14-year-old Jaivyn Barabe, in the 50 metre freestyle. She added a bronze in 50 backstroke. Individual medallists included Grace Jacobs (14, a silver in 50 back), Taigan Walker (13, bronze in 400 IM), Rowynn Biffart (11, silver in 50 fly) and Karsten Senft (14, bronze in 200 free).
