Medicine Hat’s two open-division ringette teams were in Lethbridge this past weekend for a tournament and brought home medals to show for it.

The Force, an open C team, went 3-0 in the round robin but fell 4-1 to the host LethVegas squad in Sunday’s final.

The Smash, playing up a division in open A, took bronze after going 0-3 in the round robin but rebounding for a 6-5 win over the University of Calgary Dinos in the medal matchup.

For the Force, the weekend began with a 5-2 win over the Calgary Mad Hatters which featured two goals from Paige Ully and singles from Taylor Chase, Kennedy Wilson and Jenna McDonnell.

A 6-2 win over the Lethbridge Rattlers under-19 team saw Kelli Bowles net a hat trick, while Wilson, Mikai Clift and Alie Stanke had the others.

They also beat LethVegas 5-1 in the round robin, getting two goals from Wilson and singles from Bowles, Ully and Chase.

The final saw Vegas shut down Medicine Hat’s top scorers. Abby Drozdz was the lone scorer. Jordyn Clarke took the loss in net, after earning two of the round robin victories.

Meanwhile, Smash fell 6-5 to the Dinos to start the weekend before flipping that score in the bronze medal match. They also lost 7-1 to the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns and 9-2 to Calgary Impact, a game they had tied at the intermission.

Smash now gets ready for the Ed Horvath Interprovincial Classic early next month.

Under-14

In under-14 action Sunday, Medicine Hat’s Mercury dropped a couple game in Rolling Hills to the side from Northwest Calgary.

Brooklyn Schlenker, Jaida Waldegger, Pacie Harper, and Hannah Thompson scored in a 9-4 loss, while Schlenker, Harper and Thompson also netted goals in an 11-3 decision.

Under-12

It was a good learning experience for the under-12 Blackout in Calgary Saturday, losing their first two league games but seeing improvements across the board.

They fell 12-2 to Bow View, with both Hat goals coming from the stick of Ryleigh Jackiw. Jackiw had another pair in a 10-4 loss to South Calgary, with Ravyn Lehr potting the other two. Goalie Sadie Berstad was noted as having a good game as well.

Blackout will host games Nov. 30 at the Moose and Kinplex arenas.
