Pythons downed in semifinal

The Parkside Pythons were a score away from playing in a provincial final.

On Saturday at the Methanex Bowl, the local bantam football team fell 21-20 to the Stettler Cougars in a Tier 2 semifinal matchup.

The Pythons had advanced by beating the Medicine Hat Hawks 48-31 on Nov. 2, while Stettler beat Sylvan Lake 56-20 in their league final.

Sylvan Lake will play in the Alberta Tier 2 championship game this weekend in Lloydminster. Lloydminster beat Grande Prairie 51-7 in their semifinal.
