In peewee AA play, Medicine Hat Black earned a weekend split with a 6-4 loss to Wheatland and a 7-3 win over Okotoks Oilers Black.

Owen Bruins had a hat trick in the loss, while Ryan Miller had a goal and three assists.

Colby Motz had three goals and two assists in Sunday’s win, while Cole Fisher (two goals and an assist) wasn’t far behind.

Bantam AAA

A road weekend in the Edmonton area had its ups and downs for the South East Athletic Club bantam AAA Tigers.

On Saturday the Tigers earned a 7-0 shutout over Fort Saskatchewan’s Rangers, but on Sunday they were the ones having trouble on offence in a 5-1 loss to the PAC Saints.

Silas Currie was between the pipes for Saturday’s win, stopping all 21 shots sent his way while his teammates peppered Rangers goaltender Gage Roberts with 51 shots.

Nobody on SEAC’s side scored more than once, however, with Noah Derouin, Grady Martin and Sammy Hynes counting a goal and an assist while Caleb Garrecht notched a pair of helpers in the one-sided win.

Ford Gilbert, Dawson Stewart, Kaden Pahl and Julian Laqua had the other goals.

In Spruce Grove the following day, Martin opened the scoring but that was all the Tigers could muster against goalie Devin Degenstein on 32 shots. Beck Boiteau made 29 saves but took the loss for the visitors, who host the Calgary Flames this Saturday (2:15 p.m., Hockey Hounds) before heading to Calgary Sunday to play the Bisons.

Midget 15’s

There was only one game on the weekend for the midget 15-year-old Tigers, who beat the Calgary Blazers 5-3 Saturday.

Daniel Ganert’s second-period goal held up as the winner after the Blazers scored twice in the final frame. But it was 5-1 after 42 minutes, with Josh Drefs scoring twice and assisting on Ganert’s goal.

Luke Renschler and Kai Kukurudza also scored for SEAC, while Kaiden Morin made 24 saves in net.

Midget AA

The midget AA Jasper Homes Hounds torched the Foothills Bisons 8-3 Friday night in High River.

Outshooting the Bisons 56-16, the Hounds scored all their goals at even strength despite having six power play chances. Eight different players found the back of the net, led by Mason Mowat (who added two assists) and both Cayden Dumanowski and Tanner Gold (with an extra assist each). Cameron Hall, Caleb Irvine, Vaughn Strutt, Evan Gehardt and Kyden Moore scored the others.

Bantam AA

It was a winless weekend for the Hounds bantam AA side.

Medicine Hat fell 4-2 to Olds Saturday at the Kinplex, then 4-2 to Foothills Sunday in Blackie.

Jake Christianson had the lone goal Saturday, his team outshot 40-14. Medicine Hat recorded a 39-20 shots advantage Sunday but only Jacob Hazzard and Zach Herman – both on the power play – scored.

Peewee girls

The Medicine Hat Wildcats peewee girls team had a win and a tie this past weekend.

On Friday they tied the Lethbridge Cyclones 3-3. Taya Christie made 25 saves while Riley Gramlich scored twice. Keira Grant had the other goal.

On Saturday the Wildcats beat Okotoks 7-0, Christie earning the shutout and Gramlich adding another pair of goals. Grant, Keyana Bert, Myla Motz, Katie Kuipers and Darby Amundson also scored.
