Free ringette event Sunday

By Medicine Hat News on August 23, 2019.

Not sure if ringette is your thing? Medicine Hat Ringette is holding a free event to let youth try the sport before committing to it for the winter.

This Sunday at the Family Leisure Centre, all kids from four to 18 years old need is skates, gloves and a helmet, plus they need to pre-register at cometryringette.ca.

That, plus a second-year program for the youngest players geared at skating skills can make it easy to get started.

The $149 Optimist Club Active Start program runs 16 weeks and is for kids born from 2013 to 2015.

“Our first year Active Start program was a great success and we are excited to offer this opportunity again to young players,” said local association president Ryan Klick in a press release. “The Active Start Program lets kids learn the game in a fun environment coached by skating professionals.

“We invite players of all ages to try ringette and experience what this sport has to offer.”

Sunday’s free event runs from 1:30-2:45 p.m. If you’ve got any more questions email president@mhringette.com.
