The Medicine Hat Cubs unveiled their Heritage Junior Hockey League schedule Tuesday. The junior B team will spend most of its first first month at home in the Kinplex, before lots of road trips in November. The 38-game regular season begins Friday, Sept. 20 in Airdrie against the defending provincial champion Thunder. Medicine Hat’s home opener comes two days later, Sunday, Sept. 20 against the Strathmore Wheatland Kings, and they play 11 of their first 15 games at the Kinplex, including seven in a row starting in mid-October. Airdrie is also the Cubs’ final opponent before playoffs, a Feb. 20 game also in Airdrie. Medicine Hat went 17-17-4 last season, beating Strathmore in a first-round playoff series before losing in the seventh game of the Southern Division semifinals to Coaldale. 6
