Medicine Hat minor softball wrapped up its house league divisions this past weekend at the diamonds in Redcliff.

In under-15 the Blue Blitz team coached by Michelle Robinson beat the Fireballs coached by Donni Allen and Ed Harper. Brooks came in third.

“We had to dig deep to take the win,” reported Robinson in a press release. No score of the final was reported.

The under-12 tournament saw the Red Rebels coached by Marcus Campbell, Chris Grad and Scott Plouffe beat the Black Panthers coached by Scott Butterfield and Craig Fruin.

The Panthers came through the consolation side and handed the Rebels their first loss, but couldn’t beat them a second time for the title.

“The team received good pitching, catching, plays on defence and clutch hitting from all 10 girls in the lineup through five games,” wrote Grad. Again, the final scores were not reported.

For under-10, the Minions coached by Duana Ziegenhagel, Tricia Unreiner and Rob Stock beat the Red Sox coached by Jason Amundson, Brad Moch and Andy Motz. Ziegenhagel reported the Minions had to play with two outfielders for most of their playoff games but won anyhow. “As coaches, we saw tremendous improvement in the girls during the season.”
