Sage Watson’s season has shifted into high gear. The Seven Persons native was seventh in the 400 metre hurdles at the Diamond League’s Golden Gala event in Rome, Italy Thursday. Her time of 55.71 seconds was slightly faster than the 55.76 she posted Monday in the Czech Republic, where she was second. Watson, 24, is still chasing her personal best of 54.52 seconds set two years ago, and by extension a Canadian record that’s stood for 23 years. Rosey Edeh ran it in 54.39 seconds at the Atlanta Olympics, and Watson’s said numerous times she’d love to beat it. American Dalilah Muhammad won the Diamond League race Thursday in 53.67 seconds, well ahead of fellow American Shamier Little (54.40). The Diamond League shifts to Norway next week for the Oslo Bislett Games. 6
