A pair of co-ed soccer teams from Medicine Hat medalled at a tournament in Raymond this past weekend.

At the inaugural Raymond Spring Challenge, Medicine Hat FC won the under-15 division and took second in the under-13 group.

The under-15 team had a couple close calls in the round robin but dominated Saturday afternoon’s final, a 9-4 win over Cardston according to the tournament website. Igor Savi had five goals, Jose Recio and Abdullah Abdullah two each, and Brandon Smeed the other.

The team came back from 2-0 down to beat Magrath in its opener, then trailed Raymond before earning a 2-1 win that propelled them to the final.

As for the under-13 team, they didn’t have a playoff round but went 2-1 to take second place. Wins of 6-1 against Crowsnest Pass and 3-2 over Cardston meant their final game against similarly unbeaten Raymond decided the champion anyhow. Raymond won that one 5-0.
