Rattler men split opening day at ACAC futsal championship

The Medicine Hat Rattlers men’s futsal team bounced back from an opening loss at the ACAC championship to split their first day at Lethbridge College on a split.

After falling 5-2 to the Olds Broncos in the first game of the tournament Friday morning, the Rattlers rebounded to take a convincing 8-2 win from the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings.

The Rattlers will close out the group stage Saturday at 8:30 a.m. against the host Lethbridge Kodiaks (2-0-0).

Championship play kicks off Sunday with semifinals at 9:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., followed by the bronze medal game at 3 p.m. and the gold medal match at 5:45 p.m.

Medicine Hat’s women’s futsal squad opened their ACAC championship tournament on a pair of losses after falling 4-3 to The King’s University Eagles and 7-2 to the Keyano Huskies.

The Rattlers women’s squad will close out the group stage Saturday with a match against the Olds Broncos (0-0-1) at 11 a.m.

Championship play is set to open on the women’s side Sunday, with semifinals slated for 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., the bronze medal game set for 1:45 p.m. and the championship scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
