The Medicine Hat Tigers will be taking an express trip through the US Division this weekend.
The Tigers kick things off Friday in Everett against the division-leading Silvertips before heading to Seattle to take on the Thunderbirds Saturday then closing out the gruelling stretch Sunday afternoon in Portland against Joachim Blichfeld and the Winterhawks.
Medicine Hat is coming off back-to-back victories while the power play unit has been heating up after a stagnant January. The man advantage struck twice in Saturday’s 5-0 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings then went 3-for-4 in a 6-3 win over the Kootenay Ice Wednesday.
James Hamblin continues to lead the Tigers with 28 goals and 61 points, while Ryan Jevne is just shy of the point-per-game mark with 24 goals and 24 assists in 48 games after picking up four points in Wednesday’s win over the Ice.
The Tabbies are currently in a five-horse race for the top of the Central Division. While they sit third at 29-18-2-2, the Tigers are just four points behind the Edmonton Oil Kings for first in the Central with two games in hand. The Lethbridge Hurricanes (27-15-4-5) currently hold second in the division, while the Red Deer Rebels (28-18-2-1) and Calgary Hitmen (27-19-4-1) hold claim to the Eastern Conference’s two wild card spots, respectively.
The Tigers and Silvertips drop the puck tonight at 8:35 p.m.
