Harvey Moch’s squad reigned supreme on Wednesday afternoon at Medicine Hat Curling Club.

Moch’s team of Leon Moch, Robert Jensen and Keith Lutz swept its way to a 6-1 victory over Bing Sulz to clinch the Senior Bonspiel title with an undefeated run through the A Event bracket.

“Everybody curled well and made the right shots at the right time. It worked out really well,” said Moch. “We ended up getting three on the seventh end and that changed the whole outlook of the game.

Moch has been competing at the Senior Bonspiel for more than 20 years and says the field is like a community, and as a result you’re almost always curling against a friendly face.

“Everybody sticks together,” he said. “It’s great.”

Gary Haus’s squad went on to win the B Event after defeating Carol Eisenbarth in the final, while Liz Unrau beat Deb Lutz to win the C Event, Dwight Pahl won the D Event with a victory over Roger Bouchard and Lloyd Robinson topped Jerry Clark to win the E Event.

Ed Gertner’s team won the Masters Division A Event after defeating Daryl Hubich. Ted Ganden’s group bested Jim Poersch’s Source for Sports squad to win the B Event and Ron Ludwar took the C Event with a win over Bob Eisenbarth.

The Medicine Hat Curling Club will host the Men’s Bonspiel March 7-10, the Optimist Alberta under-18 championships March 14-17 and the Ladies Bonspiel March 22-24.
