A pair of sisters from Medicine Hat’s Panthers Track and Field Club and a trio of Bulldogs Track Club members were in Calgary this past weekend for an indoor meet, getting in some extra experience and doing pretty well, too.
At the Dino Classic, Panthers’ Shyah Willoughby took second place in both the 60 and 150 metre dash for 10-year-old girls. Her times of 10.05 seconds in the 60 and 25.53 in the 150 were only beat by Leduc’s Abiola Omoyayi.
Older sister Zaynna Willoughby was in a much bigger field for her 13-year-old races. She was sixth in the 60 (9.32 seconds), seventh in the 150 (22.90 seconds) and fifth in the 600 (2:10.73).
Also at the meet was a handful of Bulldogs Track Club members. Kiana Farrell was 13th in youth (16-17) girls 60 metre, then seventh in open 300 metre. Elic Ayomanor was sixth in open 60 metre, then second in the open 300 in 36.66 seconds. Jack Bjarnason was 16th in 600 metre open and 14th in 1,000 metre open.
The Panthers are hosting their annual meet Feb. 9 at the Family Leisure Centre.
