For the second time this season a Medicine Hat Cubs forward has been named Heritage Junior B Hockey League player of the week.

Chandler Aleman had six goals and three assists in three games this past week, and on Monday the league recognized him for it.

The 18-year-old from Brooks has 36 points in 26 games for the Cubs, who are fifth in the Southern Division with a 12-11-3 record after a trio of lopsided wins on the weekend.

Aleman scored twice in Friday’s 7-5 win in High River, then had two goals and two assists in Saturday’s 15-2 win over Three Hills at the Kinplex. He ended the week with a two-goal, one-assist showing in Sunday’s 7-1 road win over Lomond.

Tavin Straub was the Heritage league’s player of the week on Oct. 22.

Aleman’s now 11th in league scoring, far off the wild pace being set by Airdrie’s Jordan McConnell. McConnell has 37 goals and 53 assists for 90 points, in just 25 games. Airdrie (26-2) has the top six scorers and is averaging 8.46 goals per game.

Medicine Hat wraps up 2018 with a home game Friday, 7:30 p.m. against the expansion Lakers.
