It was one last weekend of competitive golf, and Medicine Hat’s Ryan Hodgins fared pretty well.

At the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s national championship event in Phoenix, Arizona, the 16-year-old placed seventh in his juvenile boys division.

Hodgins, who had a fantastic season on the tour with a couple wins, shot rounds of 73, 73 and 76 on the par-71, 6,600-yard layout at The Legacy Golf Club. That was only five shots back of the winner, Ontario’s Zachary Hart, whose final-round 69 was the best of anyone playing those tees.

There were 35 players in the juvenile division and 110 overall at the tournament, which capped off the MJT season by bringing the top regional players together for one event.
