Tim Horton’s Jersey Relic among cards on sale at Medicine Hat Mall

Local sports card collector Tim Hittel doesn’t drink coffee, but he’s got a brother and a wife who do.

So whenever they head to Tim Hortons these days, he gets them to buy a pack of the limited edition NHL trading cards.

This weekend at the Medicine Hat Mall, he’s putting the juiciest fruit of that labour up for grabs — for the right price.

Hittel opened a pack that won him one of the 6,855 Jersey Relics cards, specifically one with a piece of a Nathan MacKinnon jersey on it. It was just a redemption card so he doesn’t have the actual item on hand, but would consider selling it as he hosts the last card show of the year.

Hittel says he’s opened roughly 370 packs this year alone. Given the odds of pulling a jersey card are 1-in-1,800, and there are three in each $1 pack, he had about a 50 per cent chance of having one by now anyways.

Those cards and a lot more will be on display from traders from all over the province this weekend during mall hours.
