Week 2 of the high school football season saw one local team lose a dogfight of a top-10 battle.

Now it’s Hat High’s turn to host a higher-ranked squad at the Methanex Bowl.

The Mohawks, coming off Friday’s 54-6 win over McCoy, face Okotoks’ Holy Trinity Academy this Friday at 5 p.m. The Knights are seeded fourth in Tier 2 by Football Alberta following their own 35-7 win over Calgary’s Rundle College, while Hat High moved up a spot to sixth.

This past week Crescent Heights lost a narrow 15-14 decision to Brooks. Both teams stayed put in the Tier 3 rankings, with the Buffalos fourth and the Vikings sixth. Crescent Heights heads to Cardston Friday, while Brooks hosts McCoy.

Cochrane remains first in Tier 3, having won 38 games in a row dating back to 2015. They’re looking to tie, then pass Raymond’s streak of 39.

Lloydminster’s Barons (3-0) top the Tier 2 rankings.
