Tigers hire new assistant coach

By medicinehatnews on July 17, 2018.

The Medicine Hat Tigers have found a new assistant coach.

The team announced today the hiring of Ryan Smith, who spent the last three season as associate coach with the Swift Current Broncos. The Broncos won the Ed Chynoweth Cup this season.

“I am very excited and proud to be a Tiger and to join an organization that has been successful on and off the ice for years,” said Smith in a release. “It is a great opportunity for me both personally and as a coach.”

Prior to his time with the Broncos Smith was head coach and general manager of the Humboldt Broncos in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and was a head coach in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Smith will be at the Tigers main training camp set to start in late August.

Smith replaces Bobby Fox, who was promoted to director of player personnel earlier this off-season.
