Cross country season may have ended a few weeks ago for most school-age athletes, but for the most dedicated there was one more title to run down this past weekend.
At Calgary’s Canmore Park, three Bulldogs Track and Field Club members took part in the Athletic Alberta Provincial Cross-Country Championships.
Quinn Halldorson, who was fifth in senior boys at the high school provincial meet in Cochrane last month, came in fourth in the same 17-and-under age division Saturday. His time of 20 minutes, 35 seconds was less than a minute behind the winner, Edmonton’s Brandon Vail. Similar to high school finals where the Monsignor McCoy standout was 20 seconds out of a top-three spot, only 13 seconds separated him from third place this time around.
In the same division, Trevor Mickey was 22nd in a time of 23:19 over the six kilometre route.
Lexine Rodriguez-Velez was the other Bulldogs member competing. The youngster was 20th in the nine-and-under girls 900 metre course, finishing in 4:57.
