Though it was the first game for many of them, members of Medicine Hat’s Misfits under-12 girls ringette team did themselves proud on home ice this past weekend.
On Saturday at the Kinplex, the Misfits fell 8-5 and 9-6 to Airdrie, close games but a good sign the players have learned a lot already.
Jordon MacAulay’s first-ever ringette goal was among the highlights for the home side, which also had goals from Avery Weisgerber and Hannah Thompson on the day. No specific scoring details were reported, though Abbi Ulmer and Brooklyn Schlenker were recognized for “relentless checking and attacks at both ends of the ice.”
In other local ringette play, the under-19 Avalanche opened with a pair of wins over Lethbridge Saturday; 10-7 and 13-3. No details were provided.
