Golf Nationals Notebook: Great opening day in P.E.I.

By Medicine Hat News on October 20, 2016.

Each of the past few years the Medicine Hat College Rattlers have qualified for golf nationals, coach Trevor Moore has filed a blog entry for each day of the trip. With Danielle Blackmer, Becky Martin, Nicole Schultz and Braden Schacher in Prince Edward Island for nationals this week, Moore’s daily notes continue today.

Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association finals run from Wednesday to Friday.

Day 1 is officially in the books and opening day went well.

On the women’s individual side Becky is leading. The team side sees the women sitting tied for second. Couldn’t ask for much more than that.

Braden struggled to find a rhythm early in his round today in the men’s individual side. He finished the round very solidly and managed to play out his final five holes in 1-under par.

The weather was beyond nice today. Wind was a little gusty at times; however the sun was shining and it was 19 degrees in the afternoon.

Plans are to play some cards tonight as a team and get some much needed rest. We are all looking forward to round two.
