Before this year, Medicine Hat College had never won anything in women’s golf.

What a turnaround it’s been.

On Tuesday night at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s banquet in Charlottetown, P.E.I., Rattlers Becky Martin and Danielle Blackmer were named all-Canadians.

The duo finished first and second at the Alberta conference championships a couple weeks ago, Martin taking top spot and the Rattlers winning their first-ever team title in the sport.

They’re on the course today at Fox Meadow for the first round of nationals, ranked sixth as a team with rookie Nicole Schultz on board as well. Braden Schacher will compete in the men’s individual competition, having earned a spot despite the men’s team not making it.

The 54-hole event is slated to finish Friday. The CCAA named 10 male and 10 female all-Canadians, two from each conference.
