It’s not technically winter yet but a dozen Medicine Hat pickleball players took part in the Alberta 55-plus Winter Games recently in Drumheller.

Unsurprisingly, many of them came home with medals to show for it.

Gordon Masson and Yvan Dussault paired up to win the 65-over men’s doubles Oct. 1, winning seven of the eight sets they played in the two-day competition.

Equally successful was the 65-over women’s team of Jan Goodfellow and Ylonda Jordheim. They were actually the only team in their division and thus won gold automatically, but they then played in the younger 55-over division and went 7-3 there, finishing in second place.

Other medalists were Tim Jacobs and Marcia Garman, who were second in 65-over mixed. Ed and Nancy Dick were second in 55-over mixed too.

Other Hatters who competed were Ruthmary Hollis, Pam Sulz, Larry Millington and Don Schaufele.
