1945 ~ DONALD ULRICH ~ 2021

Donald Howard Ulrich passed away peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Home at the age of 75 years, beloved husband of Joyce Ulrich of Medicine Hat. Don is survived by his wife Joyce, son Ryan (Twyla), daughter Adrienne (Ryan) Beck as well as three grandchildren Donovan and Gavin Beck and Megan Ulrich; three sisters, Ann Fischer, Betty (Archie) Daffy and Shirley Johnson as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, one bother Robert in infancy, three sisters, Irene (Ray) Lippert, Violet (Walter) Hoffman and Beatrice Cullen as well as two brothers-in-law Arthur Fischer and Larry Johnson. Donald was born on December 7, 1945 to Emil and Lila Ulrich and grew up on the family farm near Schuler. Following high school he worked for several years at a variety of jobs including the Goodyear plant, building pipelines in Alberta and Saskatchewan and seismic drilling in northern B.C. and Alberta. In 1969, he settled in Edmonton working for Central Western Airfreight at Edmonton’s Municipal Airport. In May of 1970 Don and Joyce were married. In January of 1972, Ryan was born. Although Don loved working at the Airport his goal was to be a farmer and in March of 1972 the family moved back to the family farm. Adrienne was born in 1974. Don was to live there for 48 years – just moving to Medicine Hat in August of 2020. He was pleased to receive the Alberta Century Farm Award in 2013. His grandfather Frederick Ulrich had homesteaded the land in 1913 and built the barn that stands today. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. (Masks are mandatory) Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Pastor Shane Hein officiating.
Family and friends are invited to remotely attend the funeral service by searching for the Pattison Funeral Home youtube page where the video will go live 10 minutes prior to service time.
Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. 1953 ~ NADIA SHAGIN ~ 2021

Nadia Shagin went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the age of 68 years. Nadia will be forever remembered by her husband of 47.5 years, Vladimir Shagin of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory her children Anya (Dan) Popham; Vasiliy Shagin; Victor (Lilia) Shagin; Maria (Mikael) Hawee; Elijah (Marina) Shagin; Elizabeth (Aaron) Dittrich; Luba (Bram) Krol; Ivan Shagin and Michael (Micheleen) Shagin; sixteen grandchildren; Victoria Shagin, Immanuel and Shalom Hawee, Gideon and Abigail Shagin, Linus and Julius Dittrich, Hadessa, Liviya, Yoshua and Toviya Krol, Ezekiel, Jacob, Sophia, Olivia and Quinn Shagin. Also her 10 siblings and their clans: Yuri (Zoya) Yakovenko, Boris (Nadezhda) Yakovenko, Pavel (Olga) Yakovenko, Luba Yesse, Zina Kravchenko, Nikolai (Luba) Yakovenko, Elena Jouk (Rod) Devries, Andrei (Lyuda) Yakovenko, Benjamin (Lyuda) Yakovenko and Petr Yakovenko. She was predeceased by her parents Maria and Vasiliy Yakovenko, her youngest son Paul (2015) and sister Vera Banyuk (2018). Nadia was born in the village Buruldai, Kyrgyz Republic, USSR, on January 12, 1953. She was the 8th oldest from a family of 19 children. Seven children before her died while Nadia was a child and starting with her all 11 siblings lived. She was married on June 24, 1973 in Frunze, USSR and had four children there. In 1978 they moved to Izmail, Ukraine where five more children were born. The youngest son Paul was born during their immigration journey in Austria in 1989. Nadia and Vladimir arrived in Canada with their 10 children in June 1990 and were warmly welcomed by the New Life Fellowship Church in Bow Island. Later they made Medicine Hat their home. Nadia loved and cared deeply for her children, always ready to listen, give her timely wise advice and to point to Jesus. She loved to host large family gatherings inviting anyone that may have needed a warm meal and lots of love and prayers. “I love hungry people” she’d often say. She loved the Lord and devoted her life to sharing His love with those around her. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church which she attended faithfully. Our hearts are heavy with our loss here on this earth, but we find great comfort and peace knowing she is at home in Heaven. Thank you for the legacy you have left through your faith, prayers, witness and example. In light of eternity there is no greater gift and we will be forever grateful. A Special thanks to Dr. Jonker for his years of special care for Nadia, amazing staff and friends at Heritage Heights with whom mom loved to sing, as well as the home care staff and staff at St. Joseph’s home for the wonderful care they gave to our Mama during her final weeks and the emotional support they provided for the family. Due to federal government restrictions, a private funeral service will be held at Temple Baptist Church on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Mcgougan officiating. CHARLES TRAINOR

June 7, 1954 – February 22, 2021
The death occurred peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, February 22 of Charles St. Clair “Clair” Trainor of the AgeCare Valleyview Home and formerly of Prince Edward Island, aged 66 years. Born on June 7, 1954 to Louis Trainor (Summerside, PEI) and the late Teresa (McCabe) Trainor. Survived by his sisters and brother, Dorie (late Gerhard Engel), George (Marg), and Sheila Trainor (Summerside, PEI). Also survived by his nephew and niece, Trevor Trainor and Jillian Trainor (Alberton, PEI), Uncle Aeneas Trainor and Aunt Phyllis Keoughan (both of Charlottetown, PEI); step-daughters, Rachelle Wallis and Nadelle Stanvick; step-granddaughter, Sherra Wallis and her daughter, Zoey; as well as many cousins and friends.
Besides his mother, Clair was pre- deceased by his Trainor and McCabe grandparents; step-mother, Mary (McCabe) Trainor; partner, Audrey; brothers, Eugene (in infancy) and Gregory; and sister, Eunice.
Resting at Grace Memorial Affordable Burial & Cremation. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 5 at 1:30pm with Father Roque officiating. Due to Covid-19 regulations, service attendance is by invitation only. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery, PEI at a later date.
