Lynda Darnelle Bengtson, beloved wife of Roger Bengtson of Burstall, Saskatchewan, passed away on Tuesday, January 20th, 2015 at the age of 64 years. Lynda also leaves to cherish her memory her four daughters: Dona (Mickey) Guyette of Fort MacLeod and their children, Courtney, Ashley and Clayton; Rhonda (Dale) Schmaltz of Fox Valley and their children, Mackayla and Rayel; Cheryl (Darren) Frerichs of Liebenthal and their children, Mathew and Parker; and Kristin Bengtson of Burstall and her daughter, Erika; three brothers, Larry Stimson of Preeceville, Saskatchewan, Stanley (Marlene) Stimson of Leader, Saskatchewan, and Gary (Anita) Stimson of Medicine Hat; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Anne Au Coin of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13th, 2015 at the age of 90 years, beloved wife of the late Angus “Jerry” Au Coin. Anne leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Marie; a son, Andrew (Jolene) and their children, Chelsey and Logan; a son, Harold (Caralee) and their children, Whitney and Colton; as well as a grandson, Andrew Schmunk (Jen) and great-grandson, Gunner. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Jerry; her daughter, Susan; her grandson, Daniel; and her sisters, Mildred McQuarrie and Olga Bottomley. A Private Family Graveside Service was conducted by Father Tommy Manjaly on Saturday, January 17th, 2015. Ryder Raymond John Knights of Medicine Hat, beloved son of Arron and Shaela Knights and baby brother of Torrin, was born still on Sunday, January 18th, 2015. Ryder also leaves to cherish his memory his grandparents, Janet Knights, and Raymond and Linda Gove; his great grandmothers, Doreen Knights, Jan DeJong, Marion Gove and Cecile Turner; his special uncle, Colby Gove; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Ryder was predeceased by his grandfather Duane Knights; great grandfathers, Albert Gove, and Clive Turner.

An angel opened up the book of life
And wrote down our baby’s birth

Katherine Davidson passed away peacefully at Christine Morrison Hospice, Mission, BC on Dec. 22, 2014, three days after her 90th birthday. She will be sadly missed by her son, Maurice(Cindy); daughter, Gail(Mike); four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Martha Hauck of Medicine Hat, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, James Davidson (Feb. 1989); her parents Simon and Helen Hauck; three brothers, John, Alex, and Leo; and a sister, Rose Gaetz. A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, Jan. 10 at Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home, Mission, BC.

Mrs. Helen Roth beloved wife of the late Mr. Tom Roth, passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre, on Monday, January 19, 2015, at the age of 96 years. Helen will be forever remembered in the hearts of her children: Bev (Tony) Hammel, Deanne (Carl) Torgerson, Don, Marilyn (Chris) Schwab and Debbie (Gary) Meger. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren: Jeff, Pat, Kevin (Candrin) Hammel; Darren, Chrissy (Sean), Daniel (Willow) Torgerson; Jasmine (Carey), Kelsey (Andreas), Jonathan Roth; Jason (Irlanda), Michelle Schwab; Angie (Richard), Ryan Meger as well as her great-grandchildren: Jordan (Tasha), Tyler, Shazia, Kabria, Kaia, Keston, Kolter, Kealey Hammel; Brittany, Jordyn, Greyson, Keegan, Rowan, Ivy Torgerson; Emelio, Ethan Schwab; Declan, Miranda Meger and her great-great-grandson, Sawyer Hammel. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Tom; beloved granddaughter, Rhonda; parents, Philip and Ottilia Gross and her seven siblings. Helen was born on September 28, 1918, in Grassy Lake, AB., where she was raised and educated. She married her loving husband, Tom, on November 23, 1942. In 1961, she started working at the Pleasant View Lodge in Bow Island and continued working there until her retirement at the age of 75 years. Bowling was her passion and continued to be her passion until she was 93. Helen loved to crochet and sew, and could make anything by just looking at a picture. She loved her church and was a devote, lifetime member of the CWL. Helen’s commitment to her faith and health was combined by praying the rosery while riding her exercise bike for thirty minutes every day. Her joy was her family, her home and her flowers. Helen’s strength and commitment to life and her fighting spirit gave her the independence to live in her home until she was 95 years old. Helen’s legacy will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the Vigil Prayers at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1101 – 1 Street East, Bow Island, AB., on Thursday evening, January 22, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Friday, January 23, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father John L. Maes celebrant. Interment will follow in the Bow Island Cemetery, with a time of fellowship thereafter in the Bow Island Golden Age Club. Margaret Angela Vetter passed away peacefully at The Valleyview (Continuing Care) in Medicine Hat on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the age of 87 years. .SCHINDEL
Nelda Ina Schindel passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the age of 73 years and 9 months. Nelda was born Down’s Syndrome in the Nipawin Hospital on April 20, 1941. She was the youngest daughter of Karl and Blondina Schindel of Garrick, Saskatchewan. Her favorite person was her father whom she adored. She grew up on the farm and attended school at Garrick for a short time. Nelda loved attending Sunday school and church, her favorite song was “Jesus Loves Me”. She would play her keyboard and sing many hymns. She moved with her mother to Medicine Hat in 1964, and attended the Vanier Center and later the Kinsmen Training Centre for many years. Her Christian upbringing and loving family and friends helped her develop various skills. She loved crocheting, rug hooking, printing and going bowling. She later attended crafts at the Good Samaritan and the Friendship Club which she really enjoyed. Nelda was predeceased by her father in 1960, her mother in 1980, sisters, Ella Jellison in 2008, and Linda Dyck in October of 2014. She is survived by her oldest sister Elsie (Ken Mortensen) of Winnipeg; Minnie Schindel (Cal Christopherson) of Medicine Hat, a brother-in-law Larry Dyck of Battleford, Saskatchewan as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of good friends. We would like to thank everyone who shared in Nelda’s life over the years. Mary Agnes Smith of Medicine Hat formerly of Plumas, Manitoba and Brandon, Manitoba passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015, at the age of 90 years, beloved wife of the late Glen Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Joyce (Ron) Ronellenfitch of Medicine Hat and Pat (Cliff) Kehler of Calgary; three grandchildren, Jason Welbourne, Pam (Brian) Baedke and Craig Mauthe; four great grandchildren, Madyson, Trace, Emma and Morgan; her step grandchildren and step great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Hannah and Alexander Andrew and her husband, Glen on January 2, 2001.
