August 23, 1928 – May 19, 2014
Edythe Rodenbour of Suffield, passed away peacefully at Riverview Care Center on Monday, May 19, 2014, at the age of 85 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Lynn; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four brothers, Jack (Dorothy), Dan (Linda), Bob (Evelyn) and Chuck (Ruth) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Nellie and Jack Orr; her husband, Des and her sister, Betsy. Edythe was born in Medicine Hat and raised in Suffield. Special thanks to the staff at Meadowlands, St. Joseph’s Home and Riverview Care Center; Cindy and Joyce; and the Pattison Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held in the Hillside Cemetery on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Robert “Bob” Harvey Franz fought a courageous battle with Cancer and succumbed to his illness on Saturday, June 7, 2014, at the age of 75 years, beloved husband of Doris Franz. He also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Mickey Franz (his children, Joel and Logan and their mother, Leslie); Chris Franz (his girlfriend, Kristi) Chris’ children, Rory, Taryn, Tokota (their mother Leigh-Anne), and Julie (her fiancé Darren Bachmier) and their children Brenan, Tyler and Hayle); one sister Gail (Rod) Sauter; his mother-in-law, Alice Wittervrongel as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law. Bob was born on March 25, 1939 in Coleman, Alberta and as a young boy moved with his family to Lethbridge where he was raised and received his education. Following school he worked for a short time in Magrath. In 1965, he moved to Medicine Hat and started his career as a magazine wholesaler which he worked at for over 45 years. On December 10, 1977, he married Doris and together they raised their family in Medicine Hat. Bob coached little league, was involved in and enjoyed many aspects of 5 pin bowling for over 30 years and was a longtime member of the Medicine Hat Lions Club. He loved to play cards and was an avid crib player. He enjoyed country music but it had to be the “old” country music. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m – 10:55 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. .HAZEL COLLARD (nee LANGBEIN)

Hazel Joyce Collard, beloved wife of the late Mr. Alfred “Bruce” Collard, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the age of 87 years. Hazel leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Norman (Maria) Collard of Medicine Hat and Gordon (Joan) Collard of Redcliff. She was so proud of her seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, Lori (Morley) Herter of Golden Prairie, Saskatchewan and their children, Brooklyn, Brock and Mikalyla; Kimberly (Mike) Vair; Brent Collard and his children, Chazdynn, Triniti and Kaiden; Corinne (Sean) Coffey and daughter, Jordan of Vegreville, Alberta; Sean Collard and his children, Parker, Jaxson and Merczaydes; Everett Collard (Kailey and Bradley); Jennifer Collard and her children, Hunter and Bryce as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Bruce on June 13, 2005; an infant daughter at birth and daughter, Barbara Ann Collard on April 3, 2012; her parents, Alvin and Bertha Langbein; siblings, Kate (Elmo) Price, Jim (Ann) Sparrow, Nellie (Alex) Giles, Frances (Abe) Leppard, Marion (Chester) Thorpe, Roy (Alva) Langbein and Isabelle (Calvin) Cavan. She was also predeceased by Bruce’s parents, Albert and Ethel Collard; brother-in-law, Mel (Olga) Collard and sisters-in-law, Muriel, Edith and Agnes Collard. Hazel was born in Medicine Hat on July 31, 1926, and lost her father, Alvin at the age of 3 and her mother, Bertha when she was 8. Hazel was then raised by her older siblings. On May 15, 1946, she married Bruce in the Gordon Memorial United Church in Redcliff where she was an active member of the church and Evening Circle. She was also a life member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Redcliff Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 and a member of the Bertha Chapter No. 103 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Bruce and Hazel lived their whole lives in Redcliff and their lives revolved around their family and friends. Hazel enjoyed her crafts, crocheting, artex painting, watching hockey and did various volunteer work through the years. Hazel was the Mother everyone should be fortunate enough to have. We will miss you Mum, but know you are Just A Memory Away. A Graveside Service, open to the public, will take place at the Redcliff Cemetery Friday, June 13, 2014, at 1:00 p.m.; followed by a Celebration of Hazel’s life at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Barrett Scheske officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. Hazel’s family would like to thank the Doctors and staff of 6 West, especially Mum’s doctor, Dr. S. Ciubotaru and his nurse, Gita for the excellent care you took of our mother. A special thanks to the Home Care girls and We Care girls who aided Mum while she was still at home- you became very special to her. Thanks also to all who sent cards, flowers, gifts of food and messages of comfort. We are grateful for the Redcliff people who prepared, volunteered and delivered the Meals On Wheels to Hazel. We also acknowledge the Redcliff Legion Ladies Auxillary for honouring Hazel at the Graveside and last but not least, a special thank you to the staff of Cook Southland Funeral Chapel. With heavy hearts the family of Sharon Riffel announce her peaceful passing while at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the age of 58 years. Sharon Denyse Riffel was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on January 10, 1956, to proud parents, Olie and Madeleine Riffel. She was raised in Calgary and later in life, settled in Medicine Hat where she raised her family. Sharon’s memory will be cherished in the hearts of her two daughters, Nicole Pattullo (Jeff Berg) and Suzanne Pattullo; her father, Olie Riffel; two brothers, Mike Riffel and his children, Ashley and Megan; Pat Riffel; sister, Elaine Dyck and her daughter, Jenny as well as many good friends. Sharon was predeceased by her son, Raymond Pattullo; mother, Madeleine Riffel; brother, Wayne Riffel and brother-in-law, Ron Dyck. A Celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Father Philip Le officiating.
