A 39-year-old Lethbridge man accused of shooting another man with a taser and BB gun has pleaded not guilty to several charges.
Clayton Wayne Jordan, who was represented Monday in Lethbridge provincial court by Calgary lawyer Shaun Leochko, elected to be tried by a provincial court judge and pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with a weapon, unlawful use of an imitation firearm, discharging an air pistol, possession of a prohibited weapon, and failure to comply with a release order.
On July 7, 2022 two men were involved in a dispute at a residence along the 1700 block of 10 A Avenue South, when one of the men tasered the other and shot him multiple times with a BB gun. The shooter fled before police arrived and the victim was treated for his injuries at the hospital.
A warrant was issued for Jordan’s arrest, but he remained at large for several days before he was arrested later in the month.
The matter was adjourned until Monday at the Case Management office in the courthouse to set a date for an eight-hour trial.
Additional, unrelated charges of possession of stolen property, altering or removing a vehicle information number, dangerous driving and driving without insurance, were adjourned until Dec. 2.
