Neuron Mobility adds College to riding area

By Ry Clarke - Lethbridge Herald Local Journalism Initiative Reporter on November 10, 2022.

Neuron Mobility has added to its riding area which now includes Lethbridge College’s campus.
Providing students, staff, and visitors an opportunity to have an alternative mode of transportation to and from the area, riders will have access to all 80 hectares of the campus with device speeds being capped at 15 km/h. Along with this expansion students and staff with a valid college email address can be eligible for a 30 per cent discount on monthly Neuron passes.
“This will be our third expansion since we launched back in April 2021,” said Ankush Karwal, regional manager and head of Marketing for Neuron Canada. “We are providing a convenient and environmentally-friendly mode of transportation for those frequenting the campus. Access will be limited to campus walkways and roadways, and we are also limiting parking to select zones.”
Adding the college to the zones it covers, Neuron has previously added areas like the north of the city, and the Helen Schuler Nature Centre to its riding areas.
“We want to cover as much of the city as we can, to be able to provide people with the option of traveling and moving around,” said Karwal. “We have had conversations to start with the university as well, but we will take it one step at a time as we are now heading into winter.”
Neuron is available year-round, maintaining its service as it monitors conditions and circumstances.
“With snow on the ground, we reduce our fleet, but if there is demand we will keep our e-scooters and e-bikes outside,” said Karwal. “In Calgary last winter we ran throughout the entire season. If there are days where it is snowing our first concern is if conditions are safe. As soon as it becomes unsafe to ride, we can log-off our scooters and get them off the street.”
