Thanks to a resolution put forward by councillor Rajko Dodic, public hearings during city council meetings will be starting a little earlier in September.
Council approved by an 8-1 vote on Tuesday a motion made by the councillor due to the fact there is often a long recess between council items and public hearings which adds potential inefficiencies to the meeting process.
The motion stated moving hearings up in the meeting may increase administrative efficiencies.
Administration is being tasked with preparing an amendment to the council and standing policy committee meetings calendar to remove the time for public hearings and also with preparing a communication strategy to let the public know about the change in time.
