Lethbridge homeowners will soon see their 2022 property tax bills in the mail.
The City of Lethbridge put out the notices this week.
Property owners who don’t get a notice by June 1 can log into Lethbridge.ca/MyCity and register their property with the roll number and access code on the property assessment notice that was sent out on Jan. 5. The city can reprint a copy of the tax notice once a property owner is registered.
People who can’t do it can call 311 or 403-320-3111 if calling from outside the city. Or they an email

Taxes are due by June 20 with a seven per cent penalty applied to all unpaid balances as of July 1.
City property owners will be facing no increase in property taxes this year due to a council decision in 2020. But they could still see an increase on their bills because of other reasons including a change in taxes collected by the province for the Green Acres Foundation budget and the education tax.
Bills could also be higher due a change in property assessment.
People have various means to pay their taxes including a cheque or money order made out to the City of Lethbridge which can be dropped off at City Hall or mailed to 910 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J OP6. A secure mailbox is situated at the front doors of City Hall and there is also a secure drive-through drop box in the traffic circle behind it.
People can also pay at their bank with the City accepting the teller stamp date as date of payment received.
Cashiers on the main floor of City Hall will accept cash, cheques and debit card payments but no credit card payments.
Property owners can also pay monthly by enrolling in the city’s tax installment prepayment plan which provides an annual discount of 1.25 per cent. Residents whose taxes are paid in full can sign up before July 20 to be enrolled in the 20234 program.

Lethbridge County has also sent out its property tax and assessment notices with payment due by July 31.
A five per cent penalty will apply after July 31 on outstanding tax balances.
People who don’t get a tax notice by June 10 need to call the County at 403-328-5525. Penalties won’t be waived if people don’t get a notice and fail to contact the County.
The County might might not yet have a record of title of people who bought property in 2022 because of delays at Alberta Land Titles so such property owners should also contact the County if they don’t get a notice.
Tax increase will be nearly zero per cent. The county says collections from the province have increased since 2021 including 33 per cent for policing, more than seven per cent for each school as well as Green Acres Foundation requisitions.
