Author sending books to Angel Tree

By Dale Woodard - Lethbridge Herald on December 21, 2021.

A local author is giving the gift of reading this Christmas.
Constance Douglas, the author and illustrator of the children’s book Angie Quinn’s Amazing Adventures with Shnoogy and Kruddy, is penning a little holiday cheer with book donations for Angel Tree, giving kids the joy of the written word as well as an uplifting message.
For every copy of Angie Quinn’s Amazing Adventures with Shnoogy and Kruddy sold, Douglas and Changing World Publishing will donate a book to Angel Tree.
The book is available at Naturistas Health Shop, Urban Grocers, Chapters and Analog Books.
“We’ve sold 200 books, so we’ve been thinking where we’re going to give these books,” said Douglas.
“So we donated 200 books to Angel Tree.”
Douglas said the Angel Tree was short on books.
“They were very excited when we came in. They were actually taking money donors given to them and going to the bookstore and buying books for donation because they like to donate a book to every child. They have 3,000 children and they were about 800 short. I just thought this was an opportunity to work together.”
Angie Quinn’s Amazing Adventures with Shnoogy and Kruddy is a fun adventure book for children ages five to 11.
“It introduces the reader to Shnoogy and Kruddy,” said Douglas. “Shnoogy is your kindness and joy and Kruddy is the opposing voices and choices we all share. It’s opening up doors for children to communicate about their feelings.
The protagonist of the story is a little girl who wears a leg brace.
“It’s her overcoming it and finding what her power is and what her strength is and that everybody has a gift,” said Douglas.
This holiday season, the local author is doubling that gift.
“At home we have books. We pull books out of our box to match the sales the different stores make,” said Douglas. “We package those books up and we take them down (to Angel Tree). “So this whole thing is about mindfulness, emotional awareness to children and giving back and learning the value of kindness and that the act of kindness can lift your spirits.”
