Two facing multiple drug charges

Lethbridge Police Service has charged two people with multiple drug-related offences and seized more than $135,000 work of drugs after a search warrant was executed Thursday..
Police began a surveillance operation into possible drug trafficking at a home in the 3300 block of 5 A Avenue South in January. The house was on their radar, following a report from the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Unit.
Following a search of the property, LPS seized 9257.9 grams of dried marijuana, 45.7 grams of hash; 94 psilocybin chocolates, THC edibles estimated at $20,000 worth in professional packaging, 378 grams of THC shatter, 275 tablets of LSD, 1 gram of dimenthyltryptamine (DMT), $3,410 in cash, as well as a 2009 Cadillac SRX as proceeds of crime.
Sandy Smith, 48, and Terry Smith, 46, both of Lethbridge, have each been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis, three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance, and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.
Both were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court March 26.
